Also, back in the 30s and 40s fighters fought many more fights thus doulble digit losses being more prevelant.

I swear people around here have reading comprehension problems. Smaller gloves mean more knockouts because the punches are quicker, harder to see and to block.

Its been scientifically proven there is virtually no difference between 4oz and 8oz gloves wben it comes to punching power. Funny how you guys like to preach about scientific advances in boxing but twist the argument when it doesnt suit you. And another thing with smaller gloves, its much easier to hurt your hands.

Another thing with gloves is the increased surface area. Makes it easier to hit and causes more damage on punches that mite miss or not connect flush without gloves.

Except for the fact this is boxing and HW boxing at that I'd have a hard time believing some of these threads... Wlad v Ali at their best, J Louis v Wlad :-(

That about 41 pct have JL winning by T/KO is absurd :patsch

While the best of his era, Louis was chinny and stopped by past his prime CW Schmeling. LHW (barely more than SMW) Conn rocked and was beating Louis until he got ****y. Wlad destroys Louis unless Joe runs from the get go, and Wlad catches Joe sooner or later. Louis didn't age as well as Wlad either. By Wlads current age he was getting KO'd :!: by 185lb CW Marciano.

Wlad much stronger and harder puncher. And even though Wlad is 45lbs heavier he's nearly as fast as Louis, and has a better chin.

This is not a competitive fight :deal

:lol:What a stupid hillbilly you are.

Louis had a bum of the month TOUR.

Vlad had a bum of the month CAREER and still got KTFO:lol:

That fragile slow-motion robot would be a sitting duck for Joe Louis.

Wlad got koed 3 times. If the Tos fight had contined its possible he would have been stopped again. Except for the tough but still journeyman Ross Purrity....Wlad got koed by fighters similar to Louis's size!

Louis fought many more times than whom? Wlad?

Joe had 69 pro fights in his career, Wlad's got 64.

    A couple more notes...

Joe lost 3 times in 69 fights, Wlad's lost 3 times in 64 fights.

Joe's unbeaten streak was 14 years, which is incredible. Wlad will reach 10 years by his next defense.

Those are ATG stats regardless of how one feels about the fighters in question. It gets old seeing either of these guys get **** on. If these guys are getting dissed, I hate to see how people feel about the other 99.999% of heavyweights that've laced them up.

Wlad is much more experienced fighter. His combined record (amateur + pro) is 195-9 vs Louis's 116-7. Louis was essentially a club fighterwhen he turned pro.

This thread is not about dissing Louis. It is about acknowledging the simple fact that 6'6" 250lb ATG wih massive reach ans skill advantage will demolish 6'2" 200lb ATG any day.

I also favor Wlad, mainly due to the jab to establish range and, in particular, the right hand. For my money, Wlad's got the best straight right I've ever seen, and that punch would be the difference in the fight. I think Joe could take out bigger HW's today, but Wlad would get him in a H2H matchup.

Joe's jab and right hand are legendary.

Louis like many fighters in his era could parry a jab and counter like lightning.
Vlad is there all day for that.

If Vlad's right is the best you ever seen you should have your eyes checked.

Vlad fights terrified regardless of the opponent...he knows he's fragile and doesn't have many shots to throw because of his LIMITED stanima.

You can almost see him counting punches:lol:

    Absolutely true.

Now, Lamon Brewster is my kind of fighter, I love him.. but he's not in Joe Louis league.

And he put his boot up Grabimirs arse.
Joe Louis would only need one right hand, and Dr Octopus would be slept like Manny Pacquiao.
