So why don't more "little men" do it? Because your argument has nothing to do with it. It's all about strength deficits and the effects of the strength advantages on the weight of the individual. Someone who is 6'2" and 215 does not have a big strength disadvantage vs someone who is 6'6" and 235. That's the difference. Furthermore the effects of the 6'2" guy punching the 6'6" guy are similar to the 6'6" guy punching the 6'2" guy. There is little effectual disadvantage, or at least not nearly as much as 20 lb differences makes in the lower weight divisions. Call them the laws of biomechanics. People didn't make the laws, they just put together a system that works with the laws observed over the history of boxing. That's the reason for the brackets. In the lower weight classes, small weight advantages equate to a much bigger deal, hence the size of the brackets get larger going up through divisions. At the end of the day, Pacquiao is the only person to do it, so it must be exceedingly difficult.
Most people feel he won the Bradley fight and someone getting a "punchers win" is hardly being dominated. Pacquiao was winning the fight and bloodying Marquez. He just got too aggressive and got caught. It was a good punch, Marquez gets the credit, but that hardly erases the dominance Pacquiao was displaying up to that point. Pacquiao just wanted the knockout too bad for his own good, to silence the critiques and it cost him. Everyone loves to say that knockout proves Pacquiao sucks and Floyd is better. No it's boxing, you can always get caught, especially with an aggressive, exciting style like Pacquiao's. If Floyd really thinks that loss means Pacquiao is a loser, then he should have no problem getting in the ring and kicking Pac's ass. It should be an easy, safe fight for Floyd. So we should expect the fight soon then, right? P.S. An an objective analyst, I do believe Mayweather beats Pacquiao in about 80% of their fights... Which is why I don't understand why Floyd is hesitant. Just do it for your legacy, Floyd. I don't think he retires cleanly otherwise. That question will always hang over him.
But...but....Floyd fought Victor Ortiz and Robert Guerrero who were WORLD CHAMPIONS and is going to fight Amir "Chin" Khan because his speed will trouble Floyd...
You don't even realize you're paying the ultimate compliment to Pac, by having to go back to Armstrong to one up him
You can start by answering mick's question, or this one: Was Sergio lineal when he fought Chavez? And don't forget to list all those 8 division+ fringe titlists!
im still waiting for mine to be addressed. Does the ring magazine and other non major sanctioning body titles count? And show where i said there are plenty of people that have cahmpionships in 8 weight classes? I said there are plenty of people with 8+ titles
Do tell. Anatomically speaking a HW skull is no different than a lightweight's skull assuming of course both have reached adulthood. Are you saying they are different? Look at Pac's HGH head, it's actually bigger than Wlad's head. Everyone calls Wlad a glass jaw, can you imagine Pac being hit by a HW like Wlad? What we're talking about is mass then right. F=MA in simple physics. Why do little men get a division title every 3 to 4 pounds, when mass is directly proportional to force? It should be like the UFC, there is one little man division and then from there you step up. Somebody getting a division title because they can sweat off 3 pounds is A JOKE.
