Elroy is seeing things nobody sees! He's reported a sighting of Earnie Shavers dropping Muhammad Ali. Can we question his authority on this matter?
Is that why Joe Louis and Max Baer are tated the numbers 1 and 22nd greatest punchers by Ring magazine.....p4p? Don't you ever get tired of looking foolish, kid?
Ahh, so here is what its really about huh? It was only a matter of time before you exposed your own agenda.
Getting up from the canvas means you got a good chin? Carnera got floored by guys in sparring who were 100 lbs lighter than him according to his manager. Yes, that's what you call a glass chin! Getting up doesn't mean your chin isn't soft. Either you got punch resistance or you don't. Carnera didn't, just like Wlad doesn't.
Now what does that mean if the Ring lists them as "greatest punchers"? Does it mean they were great, fear inducing punchers in their era? Or does that mean that you take Jack Dempsey (ranked #7), put him in a time machine, put him in the ring with a David Tua (ranked #48) and watch him get the **** knocked out while not landing a single meaningful shot himself? Tua would **** Dempsey without ever even taking a scratch. So yea, that Ring list is a bunch of baloney if they think they can compare fighters across eras like that.
Elroy is a troll. There is no way anybody comes on a boxing forum making the arguments he does with so little knowledge. If he isn't a troll then somebody needs to send him the ABC's of boxing history as his opinions could assault somebodies eyes.
Actually although I do think Elroy is full of **** and a full-on troll for the most part, that's actually within the realm of plausibility. Ruddock could punch like a mother****er.
I would pick Louis to stop Foreman, Bowe, Wlad, Vitali, Lewis..etc. If he can hit you, he can hurt you, and he can finish you. Against big men, he was just too good at getting the right cross over or under the jab. Too damn smart, too fantastic a puncher. Brock had success doing a poor man's Louis impersonation in the first four rounds against Wlad. Louis is also going to find Wlad's ribs with his right cross, he'll get clinched after the fact but the damange is already done.. Wlad's body is going to get busted up badly, and Louis will eventually find his chin over the top as he slows down and finish him. Primo was a good fighter, a step below Vitali, Lewis, and Wlad, but he was skilled, hit hard, and fought tall just like them. He was slower than his modern counter parts but Louis is going to be at a hand speed advantage regardless.
I agree with everything except about Carnera. Primo was actually a step above Vitali...Lewis and Vlad.:deal He sure as hell threw LOTS more punches...was FAR more agressive...fought MUCH better comp...and got off the canvas more than all 3 put together. Carnera would hospitalize McCall...Brewster...Byrd...Purrity..and Sanders.
