Good mention. I saw Mitchell come to Sacramento and beat a good fighter in Tony Lopez {even though they called it a draw} then comeback and win a clear decision to take the title officially.

Very good boxer with a nice skillset.

Simon Brown is a name that has been overlooked. He was a great force at Welterweight and was good enough to move up and devastate the great Terry Norris. He came along a few years too soon. Wouldve liked to see him face the Oscars, Tito`s and Quarteys.

Folks mention he looks unimpressive on film but keep in mind the next thing out of Foutts mouth was key,
"Forget his record. He carried more opponents than an undertaker-
When allowed to fight freely he could do everything, box punch ect"

His hometown draw with Steele in Seattle as a visiting black fighter back in them days stands out.

Had a pretty competitive rematch too apparently. Didn't happen often against Steele.

By Average Joe do you mean non-boxing fans? Because if that's the case, most of them haven't heard of any fighters outside of Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson, Roberto Duran, and Marvin Hagler.

Maybe I'm giving the general public too little credit, but I doubt many of them know of any fighters aside from the heavyweight champ, and one or two mega-stars from the lower weights.

I mean the casual fan. I was talkig to a guy the other day and he said Mayweather was the GOAT. I rate Floyd highly but has this guy eve on heard of Ezzard Charles or Benny Leonard? It's a big statement to make, after all!
