This is the problem with Mayweather. When he was set to fight Alvarez and many people were saying (including me) that it was an easy win for Floyd. The question was asked "who then should he fight?" The problem is that he will most likely beat anyone 154 and under. While some people may think that fighter x or y has more of a chance the majority of people will still say it is another easy fight for Floyd. He is simply too good for his own good and will likely not get credit for any win for the rest of his career. I will use Pacman, or Martinez as an example. While many people are calling for both of these fights,I believe that Floyd will easily beat either guy and the people who do not like floyd will say, these guys were past their prime and he should have fought them years ago. Does not matter that boxing fans are calling for these fights or that there are no better opponents. This is why when asked who he should fight next the answer is "someone better than that last bum he fought" or he should fight fighter X like Alvarez was before the fight was signed. Then he dominates the guy and everyone says it was another soft touch. Like I said he is TOO GOOD FOR HIS OWN GOOD!!!
I think the world wants to see him fight Manny Pacquiao. Not as much as in 2008-2009, but it's still the biggest fight in boxing by some margin.
True but the outcome is almost guaranteed and The Floyd haters have their excuses on standby already.
beat martinez lmao. he cant even beat pacquiao. ill bite and add some here. martinez, williams, both southpaws with excellent stamina and high work rate. both will have solid chin against feather fisted floyd. floyd cant outcondition them, cant stop them in their tracks and both punch straight from southpaw stance, and hard enough to hurt lil floyd with suspect chin. if floyd chose jail over a pac fight, here floyd would voluntarily choose concentration camp over getting pummeled on ppv by these guys. im not even gonna touch on pac-mayweather. it's been analyzed to death. long story short: floyd stance against southpaws is tailor made for pac. now onto the margo-floyd: margo is basically a bigger castillo against floyd. the thing about margo is, while he is orthodox, he doesnt load on his punches, only arm but hard punches with high work rate. so there is no punch to roll over. he is slower but mobile enough to catch cotto and pac. and floyd doesnt have anything on his arsenal that would bother margo. and margo doesnt gas, mostly bec he doesnt load on his punches. this is extremely difficult fight for floyd, but i would say 50/50. he might be able to move around a slower margo but make no mistake, he is going to get beat up over the course of 12 rounds. he will have a better chance against a prime cotto as cotto is known to get tired towards the end plus, cotto is too reliant on his left. converted southpaw with no power right, pretty similar to a dela hoya but with more power but slower. prime for prime, dela hoya (not gassing) has an edge on outpointing floyd. floyd will give up his face/nose for an oscar jab but not his chin for a left hook. prime for prime, mosley floyd is 50/50. if mosley catches him solid, a prime mosley would finish him but he can also outbox mosley. floyd's carreer is carefully managed, starting from him buying his contract to avoid going round robin with the prime cotto, clottey, margo in the pretense that he wanted a dela hoya fight. but he can also get the dela hoya by fullfilling his contract and get out after and fight dela hoya. pac went the route that floyd avoided and came out on top. 2nd, he chose retirement after the dela hoya/hatton fights bec he realized he will be forced to fight the guys he originally avoided in the first place. by then the williams, martinez is completley out the picture. the fights just died a natural death, to floyd and his team's liking. they are doing the same thing with the pac fight. fight seemed now destined to be forgotten, unless floyd's next fight tanks (reminder for every boxing fans that want the pac-floyd fight: boycott floyd's next fight and you are that closer to see the pac fight). after, retirement, isntead of fulfilling the wish of boxing community, yet again he skirted around it by signing jmm on the eve of pac-hatton fight. he magically injured in training when it was apparent that pac's camp was waiting for teh floyd-marquez result, presumably to fight the winner, the thing that floyd should have done in the first place, wait for the pac-hatton result. rest is an ugly history of take the test bs and on and on. end of.
PROGAMER, everyone knows you are A Floyd hater. Martinez is a very Good fighter who has had too many injuries and Pac could have never beat Floyd even at his very best. Pure academics that all real boxing fans understand. Your hate blinds you from seeing the truth!!!
We gotta ask Progamer if manny could beat a prime delahoya, prime mosely, prime Williams, or a prime Martinez and see what he says
we are not talking about the present martinez idiot. "he is walking down cotto", that's floyd's assessment on pac. double idiiot. floyd will beat pac, in your ***** opinion. it seems floyd's opinion corroborate mine. even then, listen to the *****tards here. if cotto beats martinez, floyd will fight cotto for another belt at 160. but if martinez wins, he is too big for floyd lmao. dont give me this **** it is about money. floyd didnt rematch dela hoya. if there is a mega-moeny bout in history, this was it. and who can forget abouth the pac fight, lmao, another cherrypicking proof. floyd, the guy nicknamed money, isnt about making money. all he does is preserved his 0. well in the end, he makes more money this way, only his legacy in tatters.:deal
the gap in weight class at the time was too big. where was pac fighting at the time? when pac entered his prime at ww, both mosley and dela hoya have aged. they will never meet prime for prime as pac is so much younger than both. but floyd is closer in age to both. after he beat dela hoya, he could have gotten back and fight mosley, he has the clout to call the shots then. instead floyd used his leverage in negotiation NOT to fight the relevant fights, which is exactly the opposite of what dela hya did. pac and floyd are closer in age too. 2008-9 would have been prime for prime for pac and floyd. instead we got the pee drinker fight and "pac's head has gotten bigger" from floyd. the rest is the ugliest history in boxing. that will officially be the gay age in boxing, as opposed to dela hoya's era as the golden (boy) age. pac era is the "no-weight class" era. (or weight jumping era, or weight-less era or multi-weight era):good
It's the same before every Mayweather fight. Sugar Shane and Canelo were prime examples. Before everyone said he should fight them, he was scared to fight them, they would beat him etc He took the fights, beat them both handily. After the fight, both were no good and we then hear "Floyd should have fought ****, he's scared to fight ****, **** would beat him" etc
I'm not sure how shot Martinez is so I think that could be a good fight but apart from that I agree with the OP. There isn't much available for Floyd at present. I don't know who's fault it is that it didn't happen but Floyd should have fought Pacquiao and Cotto around 2008/2009 ish.
Boxing is doing great right now and Floyd and Pac are not Boxing. I do not care if they ever fight each other. The only reason I want to see the fight is my hope that people will admit that Pac is not in Floyd's league and move on.
What I truly don't understand about fans of any particular boxer, is the need to blatantly lie about previous events We all know mosely was approached for a fight by Floyd and was refused - historical fact Cotto was " to green" at that time - historical fact Clottey wasn't even a factor back then at the PBF/ odh fight time Contract opt out for larger purse against odh> than Margo This is all public record, why try to spin it when all parties know the truth?
He need to drain the man. Floyd explained himself in detail how this weakens a man- how he is not at his best and dehydrated., its all on google. He explains how uncomfortable it is. So he has not beaten the best at 154. He fought a 152 catchweight.
