As has been pointed out rather abundantly: your first sentence was real bad. Really bad. Terrible. Do you think he struggled with Soto Karass? Be honest. Win back some credibility. Here's your chance. I'm offering it on a platter. Take the opportunity. Take it. You can do this.
Nothing special he is just the most Solid Natural Welterweight today, the rest of Welter are older roided weaklings fighting each other
Yeah I do, based on the premise that if he really is ALL THAT then what the **** took him so long to get Karass out of there? He struggled MIGHTILY against Diego Chaves too by the way. Leading up to the Karass fight I was thinking okay this guy is the real deal he's gonna KO this washed up version of Karass by Round 4 but he disappointed and it took him 9 Rounds to get the job done.
Can you win every round convincingly, knock your opponent out in the 9th and still "struggle"? By your definition of "struggle", Pacquiao "struggled" against Margarito and Cotto. He did struggle against Diego Chaves, but, then again, Diego Chaves is a good fighter. He struggled and overcame. And -- what of it?
The whole hype about Thurman is his "awespiring power" and that he's a "knockout artist" but the only problem I have with that is this, why is this fighter who supposedly possesses such sickening power and who's supposed to be a top knockout artist taking so long to put away a washed up Karass who's lost 5 of his last 10 matches leading up to the Thurman fight. He does hit hard but I see significantly smaller guys like Matthysse and Provodnikov edging him in power.
in what manner is he "washed up", coming off of the best win of his career against Berto and before that beating former 147 belt holder Selcyuk Aydin? So he's coming off the two best wins of his career. You have a peculiar way with words. "Struggle" and "washed up" mean for you the exact opposite to what they mean for everybody else. whenever you say say "struggling" I will now substitute "dominating". And whenever you say "washed up" I will substitute "prime". Deal?
Intangibles like motivation, and the ultra-cliched "styles make fights" often skew assumed outcomes of fights. From my vantage point, I would say: Thurman is a very good young fighter whom is improving every fight, facing tough competition, and in his last fight knocked a tough veteran out in 9. You don't have to like the guy, but he is impressive: he's stepping up in competition every fight out whilst looking good doing it. The kid is but 25, and has a lot of room for improvement. At this point in his career, he is hungry and wants to fight the best. He doesn't seem to have the fear that a lot of young fighters have, the big one, losing his precious 0. He is not perfect; he might be a little chinny, awkward footwork(at times), squares up too much. Even given these apparent deficiencies, his game is impressive, particularly when you consider his age, and fighting style in this "0 is everything" age we live in.
How long did it take Hagler to take out "most his opponents", Thurman is closer to a Hagler than to a Hearns. Thurman is the best Welterweight today, it's normal...Nothing hyper about it...Hype is when media creations hop classes and fight each other in hyped fights :tired Thurman > Khan Thurman > Maidana Thurman > Malinaggi Mayweather doesn't want Thurman. He is old and cashing out, so no need to justify his cherrypicking...by lame threads :dead
nono, you'r wrong ! KT is legit and he has a very exciting style plus really good punching power. He is not a Broner type of hypejob. Wait and let the time prove if KT is the real deal or not. He put on a clinic against JSK, excepting for those 30 seconds from the 1st round.
Thurman is fun to watch, he has pretty good power n ring smarts but honestly I wasn't all that impressed by his win over karass. Karass is the same guy who got completely destroyed by gabriel Rosado. I know it was a weight class higher but i expected a similar performance by Thurman, instead he was wobbled early and took 9 rounds to get him out of there
Impressive 4 post newbie...Are you related to the OP by any chance :think Thurman is the best in Welterweight today...and no one is pressuring Grandpa Mayweather to fight him, as Thurman might break his hip bone...let him fight guys from lower weights In any context Thurman is above Mayweather in Welterweight, if Margarito was still around...Thurman would have the urge to fight him on a drop of a hat, that's why Thurman gets respect...cherrypicking requires lots of dedication and hardwork...but it gets you no respect...at the end of the day it's cherrypicking...even if your back hurts from all the bending
Does Manny want Thurman??:think How about JMM Maidana already backed out of a fight with him....so he wants no parts.
He's well rounded. Everything he does is above average for a Blevel fighter. He has shown that he's not a one dimensional fighter like Marquez and Mayweather, neither of whom can fight of the front foot. Thats pretty unique, especially for a guy who can fight moving forward or backward.:good
I don't blame JMM, he might suffer his first stoppage. This fight is all bad for him, Bradley rematch and sailing away is better Pacman vs Thurman is fireworks while it lasts, Thurman has no other choice than to KO Pacman, as I don' t feel Pacman will just let him outbox him ALA Morales first fight. Bob Arum has no interest in this, unless Thurman signs with him which brings issues ...etc
