pac has actually similar stance being devote christian.

people shouldnt force their own beliefs on others.

if you have different opinion/ beliefs than others you are free to express it as long you are not hurting anyone.

of course public figures have to live the consequences esp if the majority of the masses have opposing views as yours.

there could be a backlash, but that is expected.

Which is exactly my point. Holyfield didn't enforce anything he just stated his opinion regarding homo***uality. He doesn't have to lie and say otherwise because the majority are pro-homo***uality in this generation.

    I get it, and respect...

All I can say is that being prejudice to any ***uality is the EXACT same issue as being racist. Or denying or assaulting (legal term; verbally) any other civil right.

If he would have come out and stated that it is wrong and incorrect to be of a certain ethnicity, for religious reasons or otherwise, he would have been kicked off the show, publicly scolded, and probably even faced or been publicly called to face legal charges.

I don't think he should be condemned for stating his opinion. It's just a horrible one that makes me think less of him.

I just happen to think that 50 years from now we will view this decade as the historically awkward transitioning period that the "Civil Rights of the '60's" is viewed as now. That time before the general acceptance of racial issues that is the contemporary.

Is it not fair to be able to form an opinion of a man based on directly what the man says?

While I certainly respect your opinion, I also think it is savagely barbaric if someone cited religious reasons as to why they hate a certain ethnicity, so no I do not respect anyone for citing religion as an excuse to be a horrible human being (even if in the grand scheme it is a very small aspect of who you are).

Good post and I agree with many points. However, whether religion is the cause of any indirectly or directly hating belief(which the factually are, sadly) I do believe that we as human beings should rationalize things the way we're supposed to. Bullying, violating or murdering people because of a certain belief should never be tolerated. You can have your opinion as you so desire just as long as you don't enforce it upon others or bully them for stating theirs(which the media is now doing to Holyfield). There's nothing different now between the violence and aggression back in the day towards homo***uals and what's happening today. They may not be as physically abusive and brutal but they do attack you through the media(which is literally baked to support them as they were to despise them back then). Based on personal experience, psychological violation is by far and away the worst.

Sadly, people in general are used to the bullying aspect of life. They can say things like "I respect all opinions and lifestyles" till they're confronted(not aggressively) by someone that thinks and lives the complete opposite.

Agree with just about everything here.

Everyone has flaws. If you were a fly on the wall following me around tomorrow you'd never think I was the person who typed that ideological dream like post out. Because I do fail to live an all loving and always respectful life. I do say things and sometimes do things that displays intolerance (although usually just say). It is impossible to even live by your own values at all times.

And in that sense it really sucks for Holyfield now as he will suffer from the classic case of a high profile celeb (relative to 99.9% of the population) in today's media world. The media issue is another entirely if you wanna message me sometime and talk about that, morality, etc. haha.

Also, as to relate to my first point of this post, he likely lives a life on the outside that is tolerant to homos despite the now very public perception that he thinks gays are "wrong." I don't know for sure. But most people I know of who have various prejudices never actually show them or seem to be reflected when facing the situation up front.

I'm aware that anything I say or do can be exposed and used against me, and rightfully so. A celebrity has no excuse to not understand that in today's world and for that reason alone, I will stop short of calling Evander a "victim" of anything in this situation.

Very true and well stated. I do agree that it's impossible to live by these views as you constantly interact with different people, especially regularly. No one is perfect as you said it and no one will ever be perfect, we all have pasts and we will continue to have presents as we remain alive. That said, trying to live by such views is always refreshing till certain people(specifically close ones you have to deal with) constantly try to poke you out of it.

Lol exactly. The old 'flicking through the channel' excuse.

I think he was chilling with his boyfriend and found the gay comment offensive.

11 kids, 3 divorces & various failed businesses including a radio station don't come cheap plus Holy has always given a tithe of his earnings to the church.

His biggest financial disaster by far though was his house/palace which had its own bowling alley & a $100k a month gardening bill.

Holy has sold all his belts, his Olympic medal & still couldn't afford to pay his child support
