I believe that Booth would have made the difference to Groves winning that fight. A cool head was needed and he could have cruised home to a wide decision.
Groves hurt Froch, Froch's referee stopped the fight. Froch refuses to fight Groves ever again, so Groves has something Froch is afraid of...............
Over rated, yes, possibly What is staggering me, is the sheer volume of people who are practically gifting Groves the win, Froch was pasting the lad at the time of the stoppage. In the context of the fight Groves was taking heavy heavy punishment and looked like he was in trouble. IMHO the stoppage was just, further more, Groves was being clobbered, and it was only time before Froch closed the deal, likely within the same round the stoppage came. Britain should be rejoicing in a champion that come through the rain to hammer a young and very capable contender who we can enjoy watching for years to come (Groves). Not bitter about a guy (Froch) who "wrongly" (for insane reasons) is still a multiple world champion.
Froch recovered and defended himself intelligently through out the fight, Groves was taking a hiding and would have been flattened :deal Froch TKO'd him mate, Groves has nothing on him other than a thousand dumb tweets on how cowardly Carl Froch is :good
Have to second this, I was completely unimpressed with Paddy's advice between rounds, for what he may or may not be able to do in the gym, after what I saw, he's not an experienced coach for big occasions. All that said Groves was undoubtedly in the best shape of his life, so they got something right.
Yeah good post Mand, rarely anything worth reading here lately but that was spot on. Groves' instincts do betray him at times, for all his ability he is still a little vunerable imo & slugging whilst hurt will lose him more fights in the future.
So reading your post you basically already knew what would happen-i find it hard to believe you would predict in detail everything that would happen and cont recall posts on here of you doing so, though i may be wrong Also you blame Groves for letting Froch back into the fight-Froch only won 2 or 3 rounds prior to the stoppage and Froch is a world level fighter who always shows resolve so he was always going to have success at points - think your being overboard here with your criticism of George. If anything the things that got himself into that position in the 9th-IQ, brawl mentaility etc are hopefully things he can work out but to say he simply let Froch back into it is too simplistic i think
Cheers DrMo :good. It's getting sad to see the state of the forums (all of them). Here's a post from my SkillspayBills account (this account was banned for two years) http://www.boxingforum24.com/showpost.php?p=15555855&postcount=15 http://www.boxingforum24.com/showpost.php?p=15541886&postcount=21 I'm not sure where you saw me saying this was a comfortable nights work for Carl you've either got me mixed up or just made that suggestion up (looks like the latter).. Nah i don't think i'm being overboard at all. I'm putting a different opinion to the opinions that seem to be very, VERY positive towards Groves display. I believed that Groves could hurt Froch, and could move without running and that's what he did. I believe he did let Froch back into it, Froch did extremely well to stay in the fight and seize the moment but in reality he himself will know that Groves played into his hands and gave him a chance and like a true champion he took it. A fight starts with gameplans then those plans evolve and Groves didn't stem the head of steam from Froch. He played into it..
Check my edited post-i did mix you up with someone else but i still doubt very much you predicted everything to the level of detail you went into, at best you thought Groves would start out bright and fade towards the end of the fight-i did and was wrong i feel, i didnt expect Groves to perform that well Obviously you believe so but to think Froch was never going to come back into it given his history and that Groves could have nullified everything he did for the entire fight seems over the top to me. Froch showed his experience and Groves his lack of if anything, but to basically say the stoppage was all Groves fault is taking away credit to Froch
Who was the **** running around the forum berating anyone who thought Groves had a chance? Completely forgotten his username.
