Golovkin is an entertainer. Simple as that. He wears his opponents down and puts them away in style. He is brutal yet skilled...the casuals will love him when he eventually gets the exposure.

Ward is highly skilled boxer but like FMJ and Rigo he doesn't excite people over the 12 rounds. We appreciate their talent and are sometimes awe struck but they dont get the heart racing. Ward is #2-3 p4p in the world and deserves all the credit he recieves.

However the fact is...if GGG continues to knock out anything they put in front of him (including the top MW's) then he will surpass Ward on all fronts. Whether he beats Ward or not is a different matter but I know who I would rather pay money to watch.

In 18 months time, if he hasn't moved up, SOG will be desperate for a dust up with GGG because it will make him double what he makes now. The question is will GGG still be interested in fighting Ward? GGG is destined for the top PPV echelons...Ward should be there already but he has to get out of Oakland.

"You guys make these guys out to be bogeymen and monsters. We as fighters, we don't think like that. I respect (Golovkin), but I see holes in his game. ... Ask them if they want it at 168 (pounds) right now. I don't see them asking for that. I see them saying anybody from 160 to 175, but when they're pressed, I don't see him calling me out. Stop beating around the bush and get straight to it."
This is a quote directly from Ward. That to me sounds like a guy who would take the fight if it was there. And that makes sense. The fight would be at his weight division, and he would be the favorite. It's a much riskier proposition for Golovkin.

I highly doubt that. It's very difficult to be a high level PPV attraction. There's a lot that goes into it. Golovkin doesn't have a built in fanbase, and doesn't speak much English. He would have to beat a megastar to even hope to get to that level.

I'm glad to know that GGG and his team aren't as ******ed as Mr Pibb and some of the posters here.

Ok, destined is probably the wrong word but he does have the poential to be a megastar.

I'm sure Ward would take it if it was there, but neither side is pressing for it is what I'm saying - they both know it'd be bigger down the line.

The part of the interview you're quoting is basically Ward telling everyone to get off his case asking him about fighting GGG when such a fight has never been on the table.

'I respect Golovkin because he's a humble kid...I don't really think Golovkin wants to fight right now, and I'm cool with that. I think we'll probably meet one day and it'll be a bigger affair'.

FWIW It makes perfect sense - for all his potential and all the praise he gets amongst fans and pundits he's still a relatively new name to the watching public and his popularity is still growing fight on fight.

he should do it now...that way when he loses, he can come back down to 160 and start the hype all over a gain with "stay busy" fights

Good choice, Ward would humiliate him right now.

    Exactly.
You dont move your fighter up & down like a yo-yo.
When he is done with 160 and possibly exhausted all attempts to secure a Mayweather or Canelo fight at 154 then he goes up to 168.
And when and if he does, then he does not go back down.
When you go up, you just dont eat a bunch of food.
You build yourself up -- strenght conditioning etc. so that you are really 168.
I am sure he will fight Ward when the time is right.
What Sanchez is doing is good fight management.
    Be smart.
    Dont give nobody an edge.
And if you dont like it, then go **** yourself.

You do under the right circumstances. Right now, Golovkin would go up to 168 if he was offered a fight with Chavez Jr.

Agreed. I don't see either losing anytime soon... I would hope that GGG can make it to the top 10 P4P list by end of 2014 with wins over Martinez and maybe a decent SMW, so that Ward-Golovkin gets to be something of the Cotto-Martinez magnitude - alright maybe not, but big enough to address the fact two P4Pers are fighting each other.

So this forum is boxing? You must join this forum to be part of boxing? You really are a moron. News Flash, there is more to boxing than this forum. I've been a boxing fan since the 80s, my friend. I work in the industry. You were probably still at your mother's breast when I got into boxing, so try again.

I could name 20 fighters that you've probably never heard of that I've been watching for months. Part of my job is to be informed and aware of prospects and talent, so unless you make a living inside boxing, I doubt you are more informed than I. I named Mayweather because it's half of all that's known on here.
