On the main page there's an article about Lucas Matthysse and it says that he may be heading to Oxnard to train with Robert Garcia.

Any truth to this ? So has Matthysse got rid of his old corner ?

I think it'd be a great move as I've said in the past, working alongside Maidana and Rios and with Garcia and Ariza would work wonders for Matthysse.

Good place to go for a guy like LM. Garcia will step his game up.

sad, at his highest stage fight in his career thus far and he fell, nobody wanted to be around him...he is looking for a new team because of that.

As much as some of us were hoping for a rekindling of the highly competitive Maidana vs. Matthysse amateur rivalry in the pros, having them be sparring partners and training buddies inspiring and fueling each others' fire to push each other to new heights is just as good. This will be healthy for both of them and should yield positive results in the ring.

I think any high level trainer/camp where he will be around other high level fighters to train around/with would be a good move for Lucas. Would love for it to be with the Oxnard crew, although Garcia seems a bit lax on his discipline, one has to believe that it would help out Lucas to be there around other high level fighters.

Garcia is THE most overrated trainer around at the moment. His most accredited fighter is Mikey Garcia who he does't even train! But his dad, who trained Robert and Fernando, does.
