I can't argue with that. Let's hope it happens. I'm not sure I buy into the let Kovalev fight build up theory. There are no other headline type fights on the horizon for him. I also have a feeling that should Stevenson not look good, even in winning, that that will further postpone this fight, if not sh*tcan it. For our sake this fight needs to happen now. I understand why it's not, it's their health, their choice, but this is obviously 1 of the biggest badass fights out there at the moment, and in recent memory.

    That's exactly what I hope doesn't happen.

Stevenson will fight this fight on the outside. He will camp there and he will be the one on the back foot in order to maintain that distance. I think the only way he will be the one coming forward will be if he hurts Kovalev and is looking to finish, which could happen. However, I think he gets tagged, dropped and stopped before he has a chance to do so. Kovalev KO.

Stevensons conditioning also looks suspect, hes tubbed up more like one of the fatboy HWs of today. He appears to have the most power, and KO4Clev has a greater range at which his power works.

This fight will eventually happen. I can't blame Stevenson for seeking a payday before going for Kovalev, after all he's 36.

Yea. Both are pretty feather fisted and glass jawed - a poor mans Khan if you like - but skill and speed clearly go to Adonis

According to some of our Canadian posters, it is highly unlikely Bute/Pascal's promoters would put the winner up against Kovalev.

As I said, Stevenson's business tactics are sound, but it sucks for us. In a nutshell, they'll milk the title for a few fights, then line up Kovalev for sometime late in 2014. OK, great. But there are pitfalls that need to be avoided for it to happen, and there all too many examples of fights like this getting derailed. Injuries, unexpected losses, terms of agreement, contract disputes, etc.

i would have to disagree, i think when it comes to controlling range, stevenson is better, being a counter puncher controlling range is needed to not be hit stay back and then time that big counter, so i think stevenson has the better timing and range control....

but i think kovalev has amazing inside game and speed, he delivers very short quick and powerful punches, his real power is once he gets inside he swings fast, hard and very accurate, leaving his opponents not knowing when the next punch is comming from so they dont know where to block, so they get caught...

i think kovalev has all the inside game thats needed to give stevenson one hell of a fight...and possibly beat him by early KO...

but i think stevenson has the range, and power to shock kovalev into not wanting to rush in blindly like he does with alot of opponents once he feels their power....

i honestly think, if kovalev gets inside early and stevenson cant establish his outside control, then kovalev takes this by early KO...if stevenson can catch kovalev with a huge counter early in the fight, either kovalevs chin gets tested and we see if his chin passes the test, but if kovalev cant get inside or is too weary to rush in, then stevenson takes this in the later rounds...

stevenson does not have stamina issues...don george is proof of that, round 12 he was still banging it out, and when he won he had enough energy to run around the ring and jump and stuff...and this was when he cut weight for 168...seeing how he does not have to cut weight now he should have more energy...

also worth mentioning, when stevenson fought at 168, at the 24 hr weigh in, he would always weigh under, ive seen him a few times at 165, vs noe gonzalez adonis weighed 167, vs pryor jr adonis weighed 166
