Pretty much any top20 MW would have beaten that version of WW. Macklin had been fighting well against top guys, he just did not get the W. Winky had been fighting with his TV remote. Winky was great in his day, but that had been in the past for 6+ years.
WTF are you talking about? Macklin was 1-2 in his last 3 going into the Golovkin fight. In what world does going 1-2 in your last 3 count as "fighting well against top guys"? Especially when you consider the fact that 160 is a sh1t division...
The small inconvenient fact you're over looking is those 3 fights that Macklin went 1-2 on before the GGG fight are: 1. Most had him beating the CURRENT IBF Middleweight champ Felix Strum in his own back yard. 2. Gave the lineal champ and recognised MW number 1 hell. 3. Destroyed a man who had just beaten highly touted David Lemieux in the 1st round But keep going you boxrec warrior. :hi:
.... 3G is a beast. People from his division are avoiding him like plague.:good Look at what he did to Proksa, Macklin and Curtis Stevens, all top 10 MWs. Canelo, Cotto, Kirkland, Angulo, Molina, Martinez, Sturm, Quillin, Murray, Rubio and Geale would get their arses whooped by Golovkin.
Funny, were you just saying the other day how GGG should move to 168 :think But actually, you can look at a few things and make a decent determination. Height, frame size, bone size, torso width, walk-around weight, ring weight.. and come to a pretty good conclusion. Top level 154 *fight* at same ring weight as the 160 guys. The 160 guys arent fighting at the same ring weight as the SMW. So until MW and SMW step into the ring at comparable weights like the 154 and 160 guys, it actually doesnt swing both ways. As for Lara.. ok he drew twice and lost to Williams. You want to obsess over resume, who has he beat? Angulo and Trout? Ok. who has Trout beat? A shot Cotto. Who else? hmm... yeah Alvarez? Ok he beat Trout... Angulo, who has he beat? Hmm.. Rosado? Ok. KTFO by Kirkland. :think:think:think Hmm... but yeah anyone who isnt super impressed with 154 doesnt know anything:roll:
It's saying plenty. Can't ask for much more than being by far the best out of all the people your own size.

Honest question: do you think he would still beat Rosado? He did win impressive, was back a few years though I think. How would you rate Angulo/Rosado today?
Based on what? GBP impressive Stateside hype machine? For the record I think some of the 154s are actually pretty good. I would love to see Lara beef up and try his hand against the guys at 160. But if you want to play boxrec warrior like some people around here, its also pretty easy to pick apart 154 just like 160 or almost any other division. The 154 > 160 argument doesnt have anything to back it, other than the fact that FMJ sometimes fights at that weight.
MW has 2 top guys (GGG & Martinez) and then some solid guys (Sturm, Murray, Quillin etc). SMW has 1 top guy (Ward) and some solid guys (Froch, Groves etc). LHW has 2 top guys (Stevenson & Kovalev) and a few solid guys (Pascal, Hopkins etc). What does CW have? HW has Wlad and then what? There are some divisions that are better than MW but I don't think MW is especially bad when you consider ALL of the weight classes. GGG would probably beat all the MW's. I think he could get down to 154 and beat all the JMW's and would most likely beat all the SMW's apart from Ward so not only is GGG probably the best MW in the world he could probably beat everyone from 154 to 168 at their own weight except Ward. It's not guaranteed but many would agree and that's not bad.
