GGG is too big and powerful for Floyd.

Floyd is clearly the better boxer, but that talent will only take him up so far. A skilled natural 160+ fighter is too far imo.

I'd love to be proved wrong though.

GGG isn't prime at 154 for all we know.

if ggg can effectively make the weight floyd will be looking strictly to survive once he gets hit solid somewhere before the fifth round as gennady ahs ko power in both hands

golovkin is capable of throwing 100 punches a round whereas floyd is lucky to get off 40.

    fight will never happen

Given that he hasn't had a meaningful fight at LMW yet and is about 5′ 10½″ tall, that's rather unlikely, no? He's a well sized middleweight and taller than Abraham.

Not particularly unlikely imo. It's only an extra 6lbs. Yeah he's taller than Abraham but he's shorter than Jarmaine Taylor and about the same size as Anthony Mundine.

Two years ago Sanchez said Golovkin was a natural for 154. In fact if you look at weigh ins and fights up to Proksa it was pretty clear that GGG wasnt cutting weight at all and his size was ok for MW but not largish at all (in some fights like Ouma for ex he was pretty small). This was back when they were talking about 154 as well. After successful HBO debut, they had planned on moving down to 154 for the right fight. (hence fighting Rosado, which was supposed to be a catchweight - it was Rosado who said no to catchweight - which saved GGG actually because he got the flu. Had he had to cut harsh weight on top of it, it could have been ugly)

After Rosado fight.. was the HBO/GBP ****-up. With GBP out of the HBO picture, there are no longer any fights at 154 worth doing. The last two fights, GGG has been progressively larger and more hollow-eyed at weigh in indicating larger weight cut. Its obvious to anyone paying attention that they are starting to prep for moving to 168 eventually.

Had GBP remained in the picture, I think it highly likely they would have continued sizing downward and right now we would be talking about GGG/Canelo/Lara/etc on the road to a possible FMJ bout. That obviously did not happen, and now all roads lead to eventual 168 and Andre Ward instead. But 154 was once in the cards, and theres no reason to think it was not do-able. But for almost a year now the training regime has been to move in the opposite direction, toward 168 so at this point sizing down would probably be a nonstarter.

If they were his own size they would be fighting in his division. GGG will probably fight anyone at 160 (his own size).

Mayweather does not fight at 154 anymore. Only at 147 to 152 lbs.

GGG is not slow like Canelo Alvarez. The difference between those two fighters is night and day, NIGHT AND DAY. GGG knows how to cut the ring off . . .

He's showing major flaws even against his trashy comp....he's not that good...hence the careful way he's being managed.
