Compared to the 3 Kellerman mentions Morales, and Barrera have got to be in with a shout.

The more you look at the 90sthe more you have to say

Rjj didn't deserve fighter of the decade

Lennox Lewis makes a great case

    So does eubank
    Hamed

Agreed. If you can make a decade of ducking and dodging anyone who poses a threat and hiding behind your fat HBO contract then fighter of the decade is a joke. Hell, I couldnt stand ODLH but his resume in the 1990s shits all over Jones'. It isnt even close. Thats just one example. A lot of guys in the 1990s had much MUCH better resumes.

    'A lot' of fighters, klompton?

Don't see it myself. When measured against the all-time greats, there are definitely deeper resumes than Roy's, but that doesn't make Jones' resume a shallow one in itself. Genuinely interested to know how many you think of the 90s batch have a superior career record and who they are, if you get the chance.

De La Hoya has a stellar resume of a who's who of boxing, unfortunately he lost most of his big matches.

Better resume than Roy in the 90s

    Eubank
    Collins
    Hamed
    Lewis
    Toney
    De la hoya
    Benn

    Roy basically mayweather'd himself

    Except he fought his pacquiao

But looking back the only guys Roy skipped out on that really pissed me off were Benn (not his fault), Dariusz (who should've come to America) and a Hopkins rematch (60-40 was fair). Remember he did take on a heavier Mike McCallum, disposed of Virgil Hill with a single body shot ("Unheard of...") and dismantled Reggie Johnson. All very good wins.

Regarding Kellerman's legit P4P of the last 25 years...Tyson was top of the list from 1987-1990. And before him Hagler was tops from '83-'86 I believe. The list of P4P #1's from the 80's onward including how they lost their #1 status...

    Hagler: lost to Leonard.
    Tyson: lost to Douglas.
    Chavez: drew* with Whitaker.
    Whitaker: struggled against Wilfredo Rivera.
    Jones: Not much competition.
    DeLaHoya: lost to Trinidad.
    Jones: again, not much comp.
    Mosley: lost to Forrest.
    Jones: lost to Tarver.
    Hopkins: lost to Taylor.
    Mayweather: retired.
    Pacquiao: struggled with Marquez.
    Mayweather: current #1...

This has to be the funniest thing I've ever read on here. Was he ever even in the top 20 even?

With Hagler, we're going beyond the 25-year mark. Not having heard the Kellerman comments in context, I think it may depend on what he meant by "true" #1 P4P. If he meant clear-cut, inarguable #1 (as opposed to a few guys who were considered "first among equals" or "#1, but debatable," then it becomes a shorter list and his comment seems a little less ridiculous.

While I don't like good ol' max myself.. let's be realistic... Two of those guys are certainly the best fighters of the last 25-30 years (Roy and Pea)... A case could be made for others like PAC.. MAB.. Morales... even Lewis.. but really imo those 2 guys he mentioned are locks.. and Floyd could be argued is just as good or better than the others that just missed out. I don't have an issue with the names he picked and neither should anybody really. YOu could slide others into the place of Floyd.. but I don't see anybody taking out Pea or Jones form the list.

It amazes me how blind Jones' fans are to not only his incredibly weak resume but also the plethora of fans and experts who dont drink the kool aid. If you completely ignore all of that, then yes, in wonderland Jones is a lock for P4P greatness. If you take the blinders and rose colored glasses off and ignore the media hype then Jones isnt even close.

    The Ring p4p Since 1989.

1989 - Mike Tyson (Fresh off his 1988 campaign of unifying the belts)
1990 - Julio Cesar Chavez (Took care of Meldrick Taylor)
1991 - Julio Cesar Chavez (Still on his unbeaten streak)
1992 - Julio Cesar Chavez (Same)
    1993 - Pernell Whitaker (Drew/Won over JCC)
1994 - Pernell Whitaker (Win over McGirt)
1995 - Pernell Whitaker (Title defenses, reputation)
1996 - Roy Jones Jr. (Win over McCallum)
1997 - Oscar De La Hoya (Win over Whitaker)
1998 - Oscar De La Hoya (Win over Chavez)
1999 - Roy Jones Jr. (KO over Virgil Hill)
2000 - Shane Mosley (Beat De La Hoya)
    2001 - Shane Mosley (Reputation)
2002 - Bernard Hopkins (Felix Trinidad)
2003 - Roy Jones Jr. (Win over Ruiz and Tarver)
2004 - Bernard Hopkins (Win over De La Hoya)
2005 - Floyd Mayweather Jr. (Win over Gatti, Mitchell)
2006 - Floyd Mayweather Jr. (Judah, Baldomir)
2007 - Floyd Mayweather Jr. (Hatton)
2008 - Manny Pacquaio (Marquez, Diaz, De La Hoya)
2009 - Manny Pacquaio (Hatton, Cotto)
2010 - Manny Pacquaio (Clottey, Margarito)
2011 - Manny Pacquaio (Mosely, Marquez)
    2012 - Floyd Mayweather (Cotto)

In the last 25 years Floyd and Pacquaio have the most with 4. Roy Jones and Pernell have 3. Personally, Quality of competiton goes to Pacquaio first, Whitaker, De La Hoya, Hopkins, Jones, then Floyd.

Not to mention Pacquaio is no good. Floyd will probably end 2013 on top but it is only because there is nothing around him but Pacquaio and they are not going to settle the best of this generation.

normally I dont agree with Max but since 1987, its not far fetched

Pernell seemed to come thru in every one of his fights whipping haugen, Paz, Mayweather (the one that sucked), Nelson and so on

then when Roy arrived, he replaced Pernell and became the best fighter on the planet until his chin crumbled under the might of Tarver's left

enter Floyd Mayweather, unbeaten then. unbeaten now

    Roy was ****in HOT ****!

Roy's speed made him the second Sugar Ray (not the fake Sugar Ray from the 80s)

he easily disposed of Hopkins (broken hand, weight drained) winning 9/12

how can u NOT be impressed!

This int Donny lalonde we're talking about but both future HOFerz!

then there was that Tony fight

OMG! the SPEED! The DOMINANCE! Those MOVES!

on that nite, Roy wouldve outsugared Robinson. Roy made James look like a piker in the process

then there was the title(s), the almost unlimited number of defenses and finally the crowining glory of the heavyweigh title in yet another jump in weight in which Roy had never ventured.

    THa's Gr8-ness!
