Fres Oquendo, who is currrently sparring with Artur Szpilka, has told the Polish media he has a fight with Deontay Wilder in the works for May 3 in Las Vegas.

He says it will be for the WBA "world" heavyweight title. He says he will have a warm-up beforehand in Chicago in February.

Good grief these boxing orgs are ridiculous. Neither of those two deserve a shot at that belt which will inevitably give them a shot at Wlad.

Wlad must be paying off the WBA to make sure two bums get to fight for a mando spot.

I'm surprised the WBA has waited so long to make a fight for the WBA kiddie belt.

    Fres Oquendo, really?!?

But it will probably be for the WBA regular strap, wich has nothing to do with a world title.
Sadly Fres would be Wilder's toughest opponent to date.

On the bright side, this does mean that Wlad gets to spark Wilder if he gets past Fres.

LOL. so the can crushing continues..... not really any better than Audley or shot Liakhovich... they'll continue to feed him utter tomato cans, has-beens, and never-weres until it's time to cash out.

So Fres Oquendo will go down as a one time HW champ? Weak.

No, I guess I will be picking Wilder but who knows... or cares. Fun fight for the Mayweather undercard, though.

Several months ago, they were speaking about Holyfield vs Wilder for the WBA 'World Champion'. Maybe they thought Wilder wasn't ready for a shot at Holyfield yet.

Wasn't Chagaev vs. Ortiz supposed to be for the WBA "regular" title? Seriously this isn't good at all. I'm aware that they were trying to get Wilder a shot at WBC vacant title, but that case would be 3x better than Wilder facing Oquendo. At least it should be some decent opponent. The last fight for the vacant WBA regular belt was between Povetkin and Chagaev, and that was a great match-up. This now, this is ridiculous.

Ha ha I love the WBA.

Im sure they have a competition around their office asking who can create the most champions per weight class.

This dude Ortiz who i never saw fight in my life , has been #2 for years. Why is he not going anywhere?

Mago was ranked WBA top 10 and after Prez beats him , he doesn't even make the top 15.

The highest ranking guy by the WBA who was recently beaten was Mago. Prez should of cracked the top 5 and be at the door of a title shot but you know who made sure he was knocked out of the rankings completely.

K2 are going into overdrive making sure Wlad has the easiest opponents available for his remaining years.

You're aware he's had his first meaningful fight of his career a few months after signing with k2, after wasting his career on the shelf for years? And needless to say has another one lined for this month.

Are you aware after beating top WBA 10 mago , he didn't even make the top 15:patsch

Your having a laugh if you think k2 would put Prez anywhere near Wlad.

Joke of an org. Worst of the 4.
That sounds exactly like what you said about Povetkin and Haye.
