I am going to tackle this from the perspective of ring IQ, as that is what applies to boxing.

Okay, I see a lot of people mocking Floyd here. However, let's be serious, he has one of the highest ring IQs the sport has ever seen. I am HIGHLY critical of Floyd, but that doesn't change how incredibly talented the man is. The way he adjusts in the ring is second to none.

Hopkins is clever, but he is also a dirty fighter. He doesn't necessarily neutralize a gameplan, he just ups the filth whenever he needs to.

Malinaggi comes in with solid game plans, and he executes them well, but I never see him really adjust the way you see Floyd adjust. He is just a solid technical boxer (too pure for this era) who has a good chin and a big heart.

Marquez doesn't show any real ring IQ. If his plan A (counter punching) doesn't work, and his plan B (slugging) fails, he loses. There is no evidence of him thinking at all in a match. He is very good at what he does, but what he does is more based on reactions than on thought.

Klistschko dominates through physical attributes and soft competition (pumping a jab from a mile a way does not show great thought in the ring).

Ward and Rigodeaux have both been dominant enough that they haven't had to show any real ring IQ as of yet.

Floyd Mayweather is the smartest boxer.

I'm not a fan of Floyd's, I just posted that because it's the truth.

Two other highly intelligent boxers are Hopkins and Wladimir.

Bollox. You dont do some coursework and tests to do a PhD. You have to write a ****ing thesis.

A 2.2 from Cardiff would struggle to get him a decent job anywhere.

Most people here probably have better degrees.
