Need to re-evaluate the question. You ask if he's world class yet the only option on the poll asks if he'll be world champion? IMO Gavin will become World Champion, of that i'm very confident. At the moment no he isnt world class, a fact i'm sure he'll point out himself. There's no doubt though he has the ability to become just that. He cannot be considered 'World Class' until he's fighting at these echelons and I pray that this is the year for that. IMO gavin could beat Senchenko, Bundu and Brook this year. Highly unlikely with the latter of course given promotional issues however I dont see why he couldnt face the other two right now. If I was him i'd be getting ****ed off if ****** hadnt secured one of these two (or someone of equal stature/note) before the first half of the year has past.
I agree but Frank was on here last week saying he would take another domestic fight if it makes financial sense.
Probably, but do you know who I would like him in with the Namibian who sits at No.1 in the WBO ranking Bethel Ushona. Ushona lost a Commonwealth title challenge to Vassell a few years back and Gavin would do a job on him and it would position him nicely for a mandatory slot for Tim Bradley. I know it will be hard to get Ushona to risk his ranking though.
Is this a trick question because FG is far from being a world class fighter didn't you see his last fight ....I promised myself I wont be watching anymore FG fights he bores the crap out of me awful style not fan friendly at all
Did you see his fight with Vassell? Hardly mind numbing was it? Whats the lad supposed to do when he's fighting an opponent who came to lose and not look bad doing so. Frankie will look better and perform better against better opponents. That is a certainty IMO
What does the fact that he may bores you have to do with whether or not he is or could well end up being a world class fighter? Bags of potential.
Interesting the views on him i think very talented world class..yes could well be! Needs to be matched right a lot on here fancied Vassell why did he look good in that fight a come forward aggressive fighter who he could pick off. Moved up now 100% but fights like Barnes did him no favours styles make fights & that was always going to be a nightmare.Big year ahead & i think he may do better against better opponents also.
special fighters adjust FG can only fight one way he's a out and out counter puncher with very little power he would get exposed in quick time when he steps up
Well said dan, would like to see him having a big year seems he been up and coming foreva. A like frankie hope he does well
For 5rd against Bundu he looked every bit World class, had him 5-0 up. The body shot in the 6th changed everything and had Bundu winning rds 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Personally i had Gavin coming back and winning rds 11 and 12 to eek out a very close decision. We'll see how well Thurman does against Bundu in December. I still think Gavin can come back and challenge for a World title although i'm not totally convinced he would be good enough to beat any of the Top 5 Welterweights...we'll see.
Frankie Gavin is very skillful, flashy punches, but doesn't have anything special about him, a bit feather fisted, hasn't shown he could out Box a world level fighter, Bundu is the best opponent he has faced and he lost 8 or 7 rounds vs him. Bundu is fighting Thurman next, imagine if it was Gavin fighting him next?, Thurman by brutal KO. One thing Gavin is World class at though, clinching/hugging, he is a master at that.
