I cannot disagree with you on that Wayne!.What he did in the FOTC was nothin short of a miracle. In my eyes its one of the greatest performances of any HW ever!!!
You should find a better team mate....he still has not made point one in his claim....profanity and insults are what he resorts to because he cannot back up his claims....You can do better than foxy
Joe was a slow starter everyone knows that. Its not even opinion its fact. Theres no sense in arguing with this guy!!:-(
Hes not MY team mate. And the profanity and insults normally do come from him ( or Elroy). No sense in resorting to that any longer! :!: But you still havent made a point to your claim either Philly!!..I do believe Frazier was a slow starter and that may have been all Tyson needed to get the job done. Unless in knowing this Joes trainers works with him in training camp and teaches or forces him to keep Mike off of him for 3 to 4 rounds but I just believe even that would have been enough for a Frazier win..It certainly is not goin the distance!
There are plenty of fights where Joe came out "Smokin" right of the bat! In 71 when he fought Ali, I do believe Ali won the first couple rounds. Frazier just wasnt known for starting fast.
Frazier Bonavena 1- wins round 1 handily, 3 of the first 4 and 9 of 10. (KD'd in the 2nd...once again I view him as tito susceptible to an early KD rather than a slow starter) Eddie Machen 2 months later...easily wins the first...some have him sweeping the whole fight Chuvalo- Frazier right out of the gate over in 4 Frazier-Mathis I have Mathis narrowly winning round 1, but even with that Frazier is smoking out of the gate as far as output goes. Ramos 2nd rd KO...certainly not slow Bonavena II- Frazier easily takes round 1 (2 cards have Frazier winning by 8+ rounds) Frazier Quarry 1- An ultra close competitive first round....rest of the fight swept by Frazier
Philly, you aren't supposed to give examples when qualifying your position! Now take your ridicule and be silent!
Frazier vs ellis 1- Even Cossell is bright enough to say Frazier coming out of the gate smoking Frazier vs Foster...do we even need to go here? Frazier-Ali I- I had Frazier winning rounds 1 & 3, but I won't argue anyone who gives the first to Ali....again I don't see evidence a slow start in his prime?
Sorry...Now if you believe that Frazier's prime ended due to the Ali I fight...and that should be evidenced by the lackluster performances against mediocre comp in 72, and getting stopped by Foreman in 73...and even against Foreman he came out smokin' just got caught...his offensive output was fast.
Frazier never learned how to go backwards and would have been pelted into submission by the stronger Tyson. Five, maybe six rounds and it's over with Iron Mike getting his arm raised by the ref.
These are all great fights especially if you are a Frazier fan! An early KD is not out of sight but would Joe get back up from being dropped by Tyson is the question. Bonavena, Quarry, Machen and Chuvalo are really great examples as these guys were doomed to fail because Frazier was prime. I would say it was a decent start against Ellis who payed the price as well! (Brutal KO). Ramos was completely destroyed. But this is only 5 examples of an entire career that Joe had when in some of his biggest fights he did still have a tendancy to not pick things up until around the 3rd round. Foreman is probably not the best example because you cant really tell if Joe was trying to jump on him fast or not. But I still under any circumstances call Joe a FAST starter. But that doesnt mean he wasnt a straight up bad ass, theres a reason why by the time he met Ali he was still undefeated Philly!
Frazier Vs Foster!?..No we dont need to go there! Of all these fighters youve mentioned He may have been the most doomed opponent. Thats a KO that never gets old, and I like Bob Foster he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time fighting Joe!:good
I NEVER said he was a FAST starter!!!!! I said I am unconvinced that "He was a SLOW starter" is nothing more than a myth that people regurgitate....Shoot Foxy is pulling the Bugner fight out as an example of a typical prime Frazier performance...even though post prime I still feel he won by more than the 1 point given to him....Similar to a Tyson-Tillis fight as a difficult style to adapt to though.
