Martinez gets a pass for ducking because he's supposedly 'earned it'. You'd think we were talking about an ATG here, when in reality we're talking about an overachiever story who's sole elite win was Paul Williams.

Martinez came up through LMW, caught everyone's attention when he shutout and stopped Alex Bunema in 8. Looking very good as well - reflexes, slick, decent power and throws a lot of shots. He followed that up with a nonsense robbery against Kermit Cintron, where he KO'd Cintron in 8 and then subsequently somehow Cintron got counted out and that got reversed, then won the remaining rounds and it was a draw.

So we feel for that, bull**** on a guy coming up and working hard against a joker in Kermit Cintron.

Then we get the awesome Williams 1 fight that was a fair score for Williams, which Martinez followed up with KO of the year.

Martinez looking good, new champion on the block, let's see what's next -

You've got a MW match up now against returning Kelly Pavlik, competitive fight til a big cut, Martinez on the deck, Martinez finishes strong and shows grit, versatility and hardness vs. a bigger man difficult style for his own style.

Then he does the MW round a bout against your Dziziruk, Macklin, Barker and so on. Good stuff, but MW a bit weak admittedly, but you're fighting who's there and being the champ. But also hitting the deck multiple times and looking vulnerable because you're just a GOOD fighter that's overachieved and that takes a mind of it's own, especially a guy who's been ignored and super motivated to make that $$$.

Then we move onto Chavez Jr, who did not even deserve a shot at the title. HBO wanted to turn Chavez Jr into boxing's next Mexican rock star but the clown is too undisciplined and spoiled to make the most out of it and is a PED freak at that. With a 30 pound weight advantage, Chavez Jr got his ass whipped for 11 rounds and scored a KD after Martinez injured his knee. Boxing fans are so ridiculously stupid compared to fans of the easier to analyze team sports that have stats that are more reflective and cut and dry that it's laughable. Many of them acted like Chavez was the superior for this late round KD, a man who couldn't even capitalize on it.

So anyway, resume looking like - Williams, Pavlik, Barker, Macklin, Dzinziruk and Chavez Jr is 1 elite win, 1 good win and 3 decent wins and 1 win over an over sized hype job. Consistency good, so that's extra points and note that I am critiquing as compared to ATG resume's, not just resume's of current, because fans are acting like Martinez is

Ducking the first elite level threat of your MW reign. Martinez is listed as old.... but the man's only been at the championship level since late 2009 and mid 30s was his prime, as everyone's prime is different. Sure, you have injuries, but he's taken time off and really is interested in still fighting for that money, so he's good to me.

You have held the lineal title since 2010 and you advertise yourself as the real deal, your fans advertise you as the real deal. The underrated overachieving champ that fights everybody, too old to be champ in 2008 as a prospective champ.... but you make it.... you hold the lineal title now for almost 4 years.

You're holding Bernard Hopkins' lineal title that he broke the defense record with.... which Bernard gladly fought the highly touted heir to his throne at age 40. Yes. Well, legends are such for a reason...

And you won't fight the first legit threat to your reign, the heir the throne.

To hell with that and those who defend it so Martinez can fight a shot to bits Welterweight that wouldn't stand a chance against any top fighter @154 or 160.

Real fans watch boxing to see the best gladiators vs. the best gladiators. Silly modern fake fans watch it seemingly to see their favorite gladiator celebrities make the most money they can in non-sense, may as well be scripted affairs instead of the greatest spectacle on earth - which is an elite championship boxing match.

DiBella and Martinez said they don't want to hear anything about Golovkin. He isn't saying fight Cotto as a tune up/come back and then take on his MW challenge, it's total ignore. That usually indicates DUCK.

And as per usual, as I posted in the original post, we have modern fans here posting about what money a fighter will make and caring about such more than the best fights being made.

Contradiction. And you are defending a Donald Duck. Fans prior to this Mayweather era were never so obsessive about what fighters earn and didn't use it nearly as an excuse like they do now for the best fighting the best not happening. Even in the DLH era, most of the fights we wanted got made and the money talks were mostly done outside of the fan, or after the fact.
