The "All Things Mayweather/Pacquiao" Express!!!!!!

Don't get me wrong I do not want to see Pacquiao fight Gamboa and I do not agree with the fight but how is it any worse than Mayweather fighting Marquez?

Marquez was a former featherweight who hadn't properly settled into lightweight when Mayweather took him on same as Gamboa. Marquez might have done more as a pro but Gamboa is an all time great amateur as well.

Let's get this straight, it is a bad fight, I do not agree with it but it is no worse than what Mayweather did there and do not go and bring up what Marquez went on to do because there is nothing to say Gamboa will not do the same.

Marquez was not even fully settled into lightweight when he fought Mayweather, just like Gamboa is now. If Pacquiao doesn't knock him out I'd be slightly disappointed to be honest.

Gamboa isn't listed as the p4p #2 fighter in the sport right now.

Well Marquez wasn't listed #2 p4p and he was getting dropped at lightweight by guys like Juan Diaz and Michael Katsidas.

Pacquiao's advisor Michael Koncs said Top Rank are considering it apparently. Not the best fight.

 

Yeah I am not going to beat around the bush it is a cherry pick if it goes ahead but since Pacquiao has in reality already dominated Bradley and I'd happily wager he would again (that is the fight I want to see by the way) there is only Provodnikov.

The point I am making though is that Floyd Mayweather fans are crying blue murder when he is by far and away a much worse cherry picker and has done things like this in the past.

It's not like Mayweather's next opponent is much better if at all.

 

Marquez was rated p4p#2 at the time Mayweather faught him.

 

Hey if its the only fight available to him then it is what it is.
Mayweather and Pacquiao both cherry pick or give themselves catchweights for an advantage.
Khan is a **** opponent for Mayweather but I would say he is a much better fight at 147 than gamboa at this point.

 

I refuse to believe Top Rank is considering this fight for real.

No he wasn't mate. I'm sure you'll pull up some magazine rating but let's be honest none of the fans regarded Marquez as being #2 p4p at that time. He had been dropped by Juan Diaz in his fight before Mayweather and wasn't regarded as a proper lightweight.

Pacquiao and Mayweather were both rated higher and there were a lot of better guys in welter weight.

A lot of boxing publications have had Gamboa in their top 10 as well so it is swings and round abouts.

Fair does though Mayweather did his job well and I expect to see Manny Pacquiao do the same if this fight transpires if not it would be a dissapointment.

Mayweather wasn't IN the p4p rankings when he came back from retirement. He had been out for almost 2 years. How the hell can you put a guy who's had no fights in the past 2 years in the p4p list?

I hate to break it to you, but Marquez was the clear, decisive p4p #2 at the time. If not, who do you think was more deserving of it?
