Let's say he was somehow beaten in his next fight, or the fight after. Is he obligated to still fulfill his six-fight deal (or whatever it is) with Showtime?

it will not happen, and no company can force you to unretire, unless you know better? unlike pac, he has a solid negotiator in al haymon, who will not allow fools to pull the wool over floyds eyes, unlike the incompetent pac & koncz.

Unless he has a fight judged by C J Ross and 2 of her mates he wont be defeated by any legit means.

in case you didn't know, there are 3judges who scores the fight.maybe boxing should change rules so after the fight we look the statistics and see who is the winner.

maybe we should change this brilliant idea to every sport competition? :think

When you have'nt taken on all comers during a fight career, having a zero
    is of zero significance!.

Who cares what he does, Mayweather will most likely end up like Pacquiao and most fighters of little education, flat broke and having to fight on.
My guess is that he'll end up like Roy Jones Jr, calling out everyone and their momma when nobody cares and its of zero relevance anymore.

Obligated...what, ethically? Legally? You think someone can be forced to enter the ring and get punched in the face?

No, he simply wouldn't get paid the pro-rated balance of however much was left on his contract.

They didn't hand him close to 300 million up front, if that's what you think. :!:

If his zero changes to a one, he can opt to retire - or keep making bank to keep boxing and risk either keeping the one intact or increasing it.

I dont think he would retire. Might ask for a rematch, lose again, then retire...

i think he would fight on...because his comeback fight would STILL generate A LOT of interest... now depending on what happens in that fight his fate would be decided.. another loss would end his career... and fan base would drop rapidly
