WBO champion Ricky Burns faces unbeaten mandatory challenger Terence Crawford at the SECC, Glasgow on March 1.

There were howls of protest when Burns was awarded a controversial draw with Mexican Raymundo Beltran five months ago and Burn's promoter Eddie Hearn fears a judges backlash and reckons the WBO officials will be ultra-cautious when Burns fights Crawford.

Hearn said: "We face a the risk that everyone knows of the Beltran fight and the scoring.
"So if it comes down to that again, will there be an element of doubt in their minds that Ricky got a fortunate decision?
"It's happened before and i feel there is an element of the judges doing that and they know all about Beltran.
"That is one problem with judging today, some take other things into consideration.

Hearns right it has happened before in fact it happens very often and you just have to look at Terence Crawfords promoter Bob Arum who has a lot of clout with the WBO. Arum's fighters have been involved in highly controversial WBO title fights in recent years. Juan Manuel Marquez had clearly beaten Manny Pacquiao in their 3rd fight in 2011, but Manny Pacquiao was awarded the victory. Then in Pacquiao's next fight he looked to have done enough over Tim Bradley, but this time he Pacquiao dropped a very controversial decision to Bradley.
We have even seen this kind of thing happen on our own shores when Scott Quigg looked to have done enough over Salinas last year, but he took one for the team and dropped a WIN for a DRAW on the back of the Burns-Beltran controversy.

Sadly these things are happening to often in boxing and I just wonder if we will be seeing more dodgy decisions come March 1st?

I hope not, may the best man win.

Will Ricky ever fight out of Scotland again? Be great to see him travel abroad and take a big fight on foreign soil!

I'll be tuning-in to see this though. Should be a great fight!

Honestly, I had Salinas vs Quigg as a draw.

I hope there isn't a controversial decision. If it does happen, people need to vent their anger at the right people this time instead of Ricky/Billy.

Ricky will always have the opportunity to travel but I doubt he would want to, he probably makes more money in Scotland compared to what he would make in America. Looking forward to a trip to Glasgow, going to be a great night especially with Wadi vs Simmons on the undercard.

I like Ricky to pull this off, and deserving to do so.

One fight at a time, but yes Ricky has stated plenty of times he would like to fight in America one day. What you have to remember here is Crawford's promoter had the chance to win the purse bid and make Ricky travel, but he never did and for that reason Ricky is fighting at home again which is a great thing especially it being a mandatory defence.

I like Ricky in this one aswell in a clean non controversial win Crawford hasn't ever been 12 and he certainly hasn't been 12 with someone who will pressure him and be throwing back the amount of punches Ricky will throw.

If the Ricky Burns that beat Roman Martinez at super feather shows up Crawford is in for a tough nights work.

Ive been one of Ricky Burns biggest critics in the past but Id love to see him beat Crawford and shut a lot of people up.

    The way I see this fight is as follows;

Crawford has great skills amazing footwork and after watching his last fight again recently he seems to have a ok chin because Prescott did tag him a couple of times. He looks really comfortable taking centre of the ring and fighting at his pace. Has good power.

    but he's

    Never been 12 rounds
Never had to work at a high pace under pressure
Never fought anybody in the top 20
stepping up to a much higher level
Will have 10,000 scots making him feel very alone

Ricky Burns has amazing workrate and throws lots of punches, this for one will be totally new for Crawford, I actually think ricky's defence is very good up until his fight with Beltran where his game plan changed due to his injury. His chin is more than good enough to handle crawfords power, his heart and determination are as good as anybody in boxing. Ricky also has a great jab.

Now many people think Crawford will just turn up and outbox ricky but I don't see this happening because I think ricky has the skills to keep Crawford at bay plus with the amount of punches burns throws any close rounds will go to burns for this reason alone. Crawford will not stop burns and as the rounds go on i can see Crawford feeling the heat just like gonzalez did, if it turns into a brawl Crawford wont be able to go the distance so as long as burns keeps it tight for the first 6 or 7 rounds and has a high work rate he will win.

    I think late burns stoppage.

I wouldn't be as bold as to say Burns will stop him but I agree with almost everything else you said.Crawford hasn't proved anything that says he has what it takes to stop a tough sob like Burns, people that say otherwise don't have a clue what they are talking about.

We will see a very different burns on fight night to the one who turned up against gonzalez, ricky always produces when he is the underdog and he fears Crawford which will again work in his favour, I truly believe he didn't think gonzalez was going to be a tough fight and that showed in his performance, he knows this is going to be his toughest fight and will be on top of his game ,a fit and healthy burns fighting at his peak imo will be too much for Crawford. If Crawford turns up and completely dominates burns like everyone is saying I will be the first to agree he will become a great, personally I think he is another hype job who will get found out March 1st. Burns is making his 8th title defence over two weights, Crawford has beat a washed up Prescott and oh yeah klimov......... whoever the f'@k he is. The smart bet has to be burns everytime

Because Crawford has never fought at this level doesn't mean he wont be good enough. I'm not saying Crawford will win or be a great, but all the great fighters in the past had to take a step up in level at one point in their careers when they had never fought at that level before. Even Ricky himself had to take the step up when he fought Roman Martinez.
