so Stevenson said he didnt want Kovalev because he wanted a fight with Hopkins/Froch (subliminal reference to a money fight)....yea Fonfara is a real money fight.

He's clearly is trying to prolong his career before he meets his end by Kovalev.

Stevenson should step up and put all his cards on the table, lets see who the best is at 175lbs.

The winner between Pascal and Bute will become Stevenson's mandatory, as confirmed by the WBC (read an article in La Presse this morning). The fight is not made yet though but it can happen if both sides want it. Lots of things can happen in that division.

Pascal said he'd prefer Montreal to have 2 champions from Haîti so he doesn't seem to fancy a fight against Stevenson. If Bute wins against Pascal, he could want to avenge his loss against Froch before facing Stevenson. Froch would jump on a fight against Bute, for obvious reasons.

Anyway, first, Pascal and Bute have to fight.

I love this fight. I've been watching Fonfara fight for over 4 years now, it's nice to see a boxer work his way up. He certainly deserves a shot and I'm glad it's vs Stevenson and not vs Kovalev who brutally murders everyone in the ring so far.

A few things I'd like to point out, Fonfara is pretty good, I've seen crazy improvement from him each fight -- he did look like crap vs Karpency after the 1st round, but that's because he broke his damn hand and still made Karpency quit in the 7th I believe.

My main concern here is Fonfara fighting away from Chicago. I don't know how much that will change him. He fights here every time and has such a great crowd. Not much experience fighting away from home. Going away to Montreal vs a champ is something he will have to adapt to very well. For him it's all about the pressure and not making any mistakes. He's gotta hit Stevenson with unexpecting blows and pressure... I'm excited for this fight to see how Fonfara matches up with the top of LHW. This is the moment for him. Good luck Fonfara - he's a good man, I've chatted with him at his training camp for Glenn Johnson.

This fight was officially announced today.

It will be televised by HBO and take place in Montreal. The date of April 12 is tentative, it could be a week before or a week or two later.

Can see the fight being close early maybe even stevenson getting shook up a bit. But eventually fonfara's skinny neck is getting snapped back and he probably isnt getting up

Fonfara is better than a lot of people realize (he's a harder puncher than Bellew) and Stevenson has lost before to Darnell Boone.

I'm hoping Andrzej can pull the upset, although of course I realize the odds are against it.

    Potential upset in this fight.

Fonfara will be just as capable of KO'ing Stevenson as Stevenson will be capable of the same.

Much lower ceiling of potential than Matvey (at least originally). I think most recognize Fonfara's limits and flaws but he does have that equalizing power to make him a potential x factor in any given match-up. He is the kind of guy who nobody expects to ever become elite and if he manages to get hold of a major org world title (which he might, if matched carefully and lucky) he won't hold it for long.

Korobov still has an outside chance - if he ever gets his **** together - of becoming an elite at MW, which is a tougher division.

Not a bad fight, I'd expect Stevenson to win this but a Fonfara upset wouldn't be a total shock, he atleast puts up a good effort in losing.

I want to see Stevenson-Kovalev like everyone else but if they both get a fight in before facing off than I'm ok with that.

Fonfara has worked his way into being a top 10 lightheavy and is fine as Stevenson's next opponent. Hopefully the Stevenson-Kovalev fight happens this summer and the fight doesn't get ruined between now and then.

I don't know where this leaves KOvalev, but if Bute beats Pascal, he's still got a fight left on his Showtime contract.....

Maybe we get Bute vs the roided geezer........:hey
