Douglas is swarming in on the smaller Davis, leading with big left hooks and curling in right hands. Douglas is warned for leading with his head as he bends down over Davis. Douglas is swinging his arms by his sides as he coasts outside, leaning slightly over to one side and watching Davis. Clinch as Davis moves in without punching. Davis is caught with a left hook and shrivels up, turning his back as he raises his arms. Douglas keeps hitting him. The ref intervenes to see why Davis isn't defending himself. He lost a tooth. He kicks it off the ring apron into the crowd. Time in. Douglas whacks Davis across the side of the head with short chopping rights, wrist punches with his elbow fixed in place. Uppercut by Douglas.

So, in the midst of Douglas opening up on him, Davis spat his dislodged tooth past his gum shield into the palm of his glove and examined it (all while getting punched in the head), but then inadvertently dropped it as he remembered to cover up.

Round 7

Douglas is bouncing around on the outside, barking and jabbing. Douglas is turning either shoulder in, twisting above the waist, slipping and weaving under Davis' jabs while flurrying at distance. Davis wings in a wild right hand up top, missing as Douglas backs into a corner. Right hand to the body by Davis. Douglas buries a right hand in Davis' chest and then works chops and uppercuts up close, barking.

(a good Samaritan from the audience returned it to Davis' manager; prompting Barry Tompkins to quip "Does he get to keep 10% of it?")

Round 8

Douglas is taking kick-steps out as Davis jabs in on him, countering with hair-brushing jabs and straight flurries. Left hooks on the neck by Douglas leaning down on Davis, using some forearm to grind him into submission and buy some room. Douglas is covering up and catching Davis' jabs on his fists brought together in a praying motion. Big looping shots by Douglas, hurting Davis and backing him up. Davis leans in and throws a left hook as Douglas backs out to reset. Right hand lead by Davis, blocked. They trade at the bell.
