So what does beating up on a just coming off of a two year layoff 154lb'er do for Golovkin's middleweight credentials?

Why don't GGG move up to fight Ward instead?

Why doesn't Ward move up to fight Kovalev?

What has Kovalev done @ 175? If Ward were to move up to 175 then it should be for the Stevenson fight.

Kovalev won a title and had some high profile fights, that about all it takes these days. And if you want to swap Stevenson in place for Kovalev that's fine, they've both called/invited Ward to come on up.

But Andre says he's not ready to move up yet, despite having cleared the division out and there's nothing left for him to fight at 168, yet he wants to stay there. Golovkin has yet to tap into the top 5 at 160, so he has plenty of work waiting for him.

Perhaps he will move up? You know, he ain't that old. I don't see why Ward is being mentioned in this thread though. What does he have to do with anything?

There's nothing left for Ward @ 168 except for the Chavez fight. I can't blame him for sticking around @ 168 waiting for Chavez. Ward Chavez is bigger than any fight @ 175.

If Golovkin has plenty of work waiting for him @ 160 then why fight a 154lb'er?

So then why doesn't he fight @ 154 where there are more big names and where there are more big fights to be made?

Ward's not sure if he'll ever get a shot at Chavez. I can't imagine TR wants that fight anytime in the near future, when they can make as much money fighting Brian Vera's than being completely outclassed by Ward.

Meanwhile there's a plethora of money fights waiting Andre at 175. The winner of Bute-Pascal, Stevenson, Kovalev, & Hopkins. I'll argue, given the Candadian ppv and given what Martinez made against Chavez, that Ward makes far more money agains most of those guys than he would Chavez.

We all know the MW situation. Golovkin is seen by other MW's as high risk, med reward. He needs to build his brand and make himself the money maker of the division before Martinez, Quillin, and Sturm will be willing to face him. A Kirkland fight is the biggest name opponent he can get in the ring with, more so than Geale.

The first part of the Ward-Golovkin dilemma is that Golovkin is a MW and wants to atleast become the recognized champ at 160 before committing to building his weight up to 168. The second part of the dilemma is that this a potentially successful ppv caliber of a fight. However right now neither Ward nor Golovkin have the momentum in their careers to make their fight reach that potential.

So we're stuck waiting for Gennady to reach the level of a MW cash cow so that Martinez, Quillin, and Sturm are willing to face him, so that he can then move up and fight guys like Ward and Froch.

afrofag , stevenson is scared of kovalev ,because he knows his african chin is too fragile for Kovalev and andre bored will never leave jokeland let alone fight KOvalev.
