Seriously though, watch the fight again and observe Takam's shoulder roll defense and how few meaningful punches Perez landed for majority of the fight, Takam looked like a bigger, more powerful James Toney out there. Takam is a monstrous puncher and Perez took many brutal punches in this fight. All in all, Perez took a serious beating and most people don't even realize it but he will never be the same again.

I know Takam, his shoulder roll is closer to Alvarado's than Mayweather's.
He fought a good fight and exposed Perez's limitations.

Pretty sure the perez that fought mago would beat up takam. Not only did the cut affect perez he's also mentally affected by nearly killing a man. Donating his purse and dedicating this fight to mago is proof that he's still not over what happened.

Sad, I knew people would make excuses for Perez. The fact is he was greatly overhyped, his biggest accomplishment was winning a fairly close fight against a borderline top 30 HW. Doesn't matter how exciting it was, it still doesn't indicate he's a top 10 HW. Takam had a similar resume to Perez, looking at it objectively, without the fanboy love for Perez, it was easy to see that they were fairly evenly matched and either fighter could win this one.

Its obvious lot of reasons Perez did not impress against Takam
The Mago trgedy must have been in his head taking away energy.
Its only two months since that fight and Perez should been waiting another month or two.
Takam is good far better than most experts giving him credit for and his style did not suit Perez. Perez is used to fight bigger and slower guys.

People need to stop making excuses for Perez, infact i would say from a psychological point of view Takam would have gone into the fight with far more weight to carry on his mind...would he end up like Mago? i'm sure the worry from his family alone was a heavy burden for him to take into the fight against Perez.

I think Mago was in his head in more ways than one. 2 months is an awfully fast turnaround for the punches Perez took himself in that war.

In discussing a Tyson/Vladimir Klitschko fight there are so many variables that come into play. One of the biggest would be who the ref is and how he handles the clinches. If VK is allowed to hold the way he did against Povetkin, he has a real chance of beating Tyson. If not, I think Tyson gets inside and KO's VK.

Also, when do they meet in their careers? VK tired terribly until Emanuel Stewart trained him. He was quickly exhausted in a number of his earlier fights.

A lot of things to consider.

    Exactly

People seem to forget previous to Mago, Perez went 20 dreadful rounds with Travis Walker and Friday Ahunanya. Only reason he looked good against Mago is because Mago broke his hand in 2nd round and had no defence whatsover.

I fully agree with the statement you made. While a decent fighter, he wasn't slated to be a Top 5 in my book. While he lacked the fire power in this match that he had previously, it could well be that his desire was diminished by the unfortunate events of his earlier fight. It was a legit draw.
