Well, there seems to be a majority of people who agree with my opening post and see Duran taking this one. There is some disagrement whether it would be by KO or decision.

It is also clear that Floyd has never fought anybody on prime Duran's level. Skilled pressure fighter (Castillo, DH, Cotto, Hatton) gave Floyd trouble in the past which certainly support the result above.

I gotta say, Floyd by UD.

Was looking at an old thread yesterday Duran vs. oscar at 135 or 147 and take Oscar by UD also. These 2 are too fast for Duran and can box your ears off.

    So to recap:

You start a thread about how the Duran of Montreal would do against Floyd Mayweather at Welterweight. You then go through the thread correcting multiple posters, myself included, for (rightly) pointing out that Duran as a Welterweight quit in the ring due to being frustrated by potshots, speed, movement and tight defense, all elements PBF brings to a fight.

You say this is irrelevant as we are only talking about the 'Duran of Montreal', even though the infamous 'No Mas' happened less than 6 months later.

But here you (and many other posters you didn't correct) are now talking about how what happened in fights Mayweather had at 135 (Castillo) and 154 (Cotto, DLH) are part of why you believe Duran takes it.

Doesn't seem like this topic was designed for any real discussion. :verysad

I stand by my original position: A Welterweight Duran best win at WW came against a 24 year old champ who acknowledged he was mentally thrown off his game that night AND fought the wrong fight. And that fight was STILL close.

Once Leonard fought the way many predicted (and no longer impacted by the macho bullisht), that same WW Duran got so flustered by speed, tight defense, accurate shots up and downstairs, and movement to the point of quitting.

In this fantasy matchup, a WW Mayweather would bring many of the elements of that made Duran 'No Mas' himself and due to his level of ring IQ and experience would be much less susceptible to Duran's taunts and pre fight goading.

This fight is no layup for Duran at all.

I took these fights as a basis because Floyd to his credit always shows up in shape and motivated. Duran clearly did not, also because he was not as disciplined and fought so often.

The best Floyd version at WW would in my view be that of Hatton.Duran would take this in my opinion via UD or late round KO in a 15 round contest. You keep insisting on the mental aspect of the fight. Yes I agree, Floyd would fight his fight but Duran would be too busy, aggressive and remember he is a great defensive fighter himself with a granite chin

Against a lesser Duran (Benitez, LeonardII), I do not know who would win.But that is irrelevant, when you compare legendary fighters only the best versions should be compared.

    :deal

Ignore the *****'s. The best version of Mayweather isn't beating the best version of Duran. It just wouldn't happen. As great as Mayweather is defensively he has shown he doesn't like pressure. He backs against the ropes more because he has to than he wants to. This has a lot to do with the fact he doesn't have a great offence. Duran is not easy to hit even in attack mode so I cant see him countering Duran as easy as he did against Hatton once he figured him out. Mayweather doesn't like faints, Duran is the GOAT at faints. Durans stronger, very mobile, relentless, dirty, powerfull, very skilled, great defence. He's just all round much better than Mayweather and in his prime would likely bully him in a similar fashion he did to the brilliant boxer/mover Ken Buchanan.

This right here shows that you're either a blind Mayweather hater or DKSAB. Pick one.

You not liking Mayweather doesn't allow you to simply up isht to fit your agenda. Labeling people as '*****s' doesn't negate a dayum thing I said.

Here you are claiming that 'the best version of Mayweather isn't beating the best version of Duran'. Which is irrelevant because we're talking we're talking about Duran as a WW, not,as you point out here, a lightweight. Please stay on point with the criteria.

But this is my fault. I should have figured out when this thread started that it would turn into an anti-Mayweather circle jerk, instead of trying to really engage the question.

Posts like this are just too stupid...Shane mosley?!?! Hahahha.
the same guy who got boxed up by cotto and forrest and winky??

Duran would box shane to pieces and jack throws in the towel.
Oscar? this guy struggled with quartey...and you're arent beating duran with one hand.

Floyd is a pure layup for Duran. KO inside 6.
Duran was VERY quick and so slick inside..look how many punches leonard missed.

Give Duran 8-10wks to train like an animal (like he did for leonard I) and this get super ugly super fast.

Mayweather would likely make Duran quit again

    You mad

I think Mayweather's a great fighter and I enjoy watching him box. Just because I think Duran beats him doesn't make me ant-Mayweather. Just because I question his resume doesn't make me anti-Mayweather.

Yes were talking about Duran as a WW and I've layed out my opinion on that pages back. In threads talking boxing/boxers people tend to go off topic as many things get discussed. Deal with it.

Prime Duran at Lightweight is impossible to pick against, as is Mayweather at Super Featherweight.

Money will not be able to Pot shot Duran, Leonard who has much greater gifts offensively than Mayweather found Duran hard to hit, imagine the educated pressure and punching power of Duran and the success he would have, when you consider what Hatton and Castillo were able able to do with less inside fighting ability and power. Duran makes you miss and he makes you pay. There is no way Mayweather engages Duran Flatfooted and survives to hear the bell or get a decision.

This is no Guerrero or Canelo but a top 10 ATG, I bet the mortgage on this one.
