well maybe is not as popular as other sports but yesterday was more than 18,000 peoples on the fight!
I actually agree with you here, however it depends, and I have experience with this, you may migrate to a new country at an early age but the way you are brought up by your parents also largely influences what you identify yourself as. I didn't know Pascal and Stevenson moved to Canada at such an early age, so if they think of themselves as Canadian and rep Canada then guess, you are right.
I believe someone already mentioned the cultural influences that almost directly effect how the land as a whole approaches pass times like boxing, baseball, basketball etc etc….I met a couple guys who played basketball at a pretty high level in Canada I believe they where from Toronto. Extremely nice guys with good fundamentals on the basketball court; however, they folded like hallmark cards when the game got physical. Maybe its just a New York thing because the same happened with a couple of Long Beach California ballers that played with me in the summer here in NY. Sorry for going off base….long story short the Canadians I know are good folks with a more laid back approach to life. Not a bad thing at all.
How did you meet these guys? You play at a high level yourself? Or was it a by-chance meeting at a court somewhere? Canada's got some pretty good basketball talent coming up in US colleges.
Well I can tell you right now, the guys in our few ghetto's in Toronto are definitely NOT getting into boxing. It's pretty much pure basketball, if any sport at all.
I think this is the very first time I've ever seen someone online tell another person: "You are right." :think You sir, are a gentleman.
we dont have the trainers. It`s as simple as that. we don`t have the trainers. We have many gyms across Montreal island, but the level or trainers are lacking. Bermiane is the real deal, saw him years ago and I was like this kid can fight. Pascal, at least he fought the better competition compared to Bute. I always thought Bute was overrated, molitor did what he had to until he got beat, sp yeah we had and have decent fighters but nothing great. But you have to start somewhere.
Same here in Toronto. Seems likes every boxing gym may as well be a boxercise class. It's embarrassing. No one gives a **** about boxing, unless it's Mayweather or Pac.
its not that they dont have it, they just dont have many fighters....they all play hockey..... there is a fan base, anytime you can stack 20,000 people in an arena to watch their fighters, there is a demand for it..... the promotion over there probably sucks....IE lack of good promoters
Don't have the requisite knowledge to address the things I said in my post, eh? Nice spin though. Tell Steve Molitor I said hello.
