haha yes thats funny cus i got stopped in sparring with a body shot i walked into. it sucks. you wanna get up but cant. love it this sport just wished i picked it up sooner.
I am a former pro, my career was cut short after 4 fights with a back injury though I have had years of treatment and surgery and am back in the gym. I will renew my license this year.
I agree, the amount of liars on here is sickening. Just because you spar with your mate in the gym doesnt make you an amature boxer My gym has a punchbag, i go hard on that for about 20 minutes for a decent cardio session. Thats means im an amatur boxer right :thumbsup Me and my mates often put the gloves on and have a mess around, nothing too hard like, but guess that means iv 'laced em up' and 'stepped between the ropes'.... so that means i now know what im talking about right? That validates my opinion? I suspect that this thread will turn a few pages, full of people lying to themselves, whilst kissing ass like the average 'fan' doesnt know what hes talking about. Too many people on here, see themselves as experts just because they have beat on a punchbag at the gym, get over yourselves Just a fan then^^ How does it make you understand the sport of boxing more?? Do they teach you new rules you cant find anywhere else? Big man alert. What a hard man #*****armyboxer #respect Yes, yes it does! Its great you have to lace em up to realise that. However the average 'fan' like myself knew that already. I mean its a really hard punch to the body after all, so i rightly guessed it would hurt. Stop lying to yourself guys. If you are a pro, a genuine recorded amature, if you teach boxing, respect. And post us your links
I believe that there are plenty of knowledgable fans, but there are certainly many many more armchair idiots that talk a good fight, call actual fighters bums because they have come up short and talk nonsense without really understanding what it is they are watching when they see a fight. Why its necessary to try to create arguments on a thread intended to get an idea of how people are involved in boxing is a mystery to me. I can't post links yet but I also use my real name on here and can be found on Boxrec if you so desire, though having had so few fights and lost one I dread to think what names I will be called when excellent fighters are identified on here as bums. I am also opening a boxing gym in a couple of weeks, website is tencount.co.uk
Okay, sorry for egging on an argument in your thread. But my point stands that people who have merely sparred a few rounds or stepped foot into a boxing gym and hit on see themselves as 'amatur boxers'. Thus, leading many people on here to insuate that the average 'fan' doesnt know what they are talking about. Its simply not true And you cannot say the people calling pro boxers 'bums' are all people that have never boxed. Thats quite an assumption. Also, people just like to big themselves up on the internet. Look I wasnt having a dig, i meant exactly that, respect. You have either posted a link, or told us how to find you. If anybody is a geneuine amature boxer, you have a record. Post it up or follow Lee's method. If not, you are just a fan like me
It is certainly an assumption but no more or less than your assumptions that the people who consider themselves amateur boxers are telling lies. I concede that someone who does some level of boxing training without actually competing may not want to class themselves as a fan, perhaps I should have included an extra option.
Bending the truth then. I hit on the heavy bag a few times a week, i also go down to the local powerhouse with a couple mates, we put on the gloves and have a decent spar. Iv never had a sanctioned fight in a boxing ring. Am i an amature boxer, or just a fan?
