The venue in Monte Carlo does not have the technology to produce a high definition stream which reaches the standard of an HBO broadcast.
Will end up being one of those small independent PPV's for $29.95-with announcers that make you cringe!:tired

Not likely because HBO has exclusive rights to Golovkin fights in the US.

No need for this fight, instead HBO should put some lower weight fights that day we have them every saturday here in Mexico and many are great fights

If they could get it cheap then ratings are ratings.

But as a fan of boxing, I am happy they chose to spend some of their 2014 boxing budget elsewhere rather than this mismatch.

I bet it was part of the Golovkin envelope anyway, meaning they're putting the would-have-been money on Golovkin fights for 2014... Geale/Murray/Kirkland will just see more cash on April 26th.

Too bad. I would've like to have seen MC be reborn as a boxing scene. So much MW history has happened there.

Although it will be one sided I will get it because I have heaps of money and I enjoy watching Golovkin destroy people.

Yeah. HBO was looking to air it until the undercard fell out. With Cleverly, Murray, and GGG, it was worth airing on HBO. The GGG fight wasn't by itself, really, because Adama is not a major player and HBO only wants to put up the dough for 2-3 GGG fights this year, so the money wasn't there to attract a real opponent.

Cleverly realized his management had bitten off more than he could chew for his first CW outing, so he excused out, and Murray is looking for a Sturm rematch soon and didn't want to risk an injury or upset in Feb, so he excused out. Hopefully HBO will stop dicking around and put up enough of a purse to get the name they are after in April for GGG.
