always love to see the #1 ranked guy and champion give a title shot to a guy that has lost 2 of his last 4 fights and is rated in the 20's
he has 2 wins in the last 2 years against guys who combined for 18 losses.
absolute joke who gets a title shot these days

This is barely a FNF headliner. Another top fighter gets a pass. If you're the best you should only fight the best. Instead it's make it to the top then hand pick your opponents . Fans use the "He deserves a soft fight after blah blah blah"

Its BS. No other sport worth watching has a team or person make it to the top and then choose who they play in the championship.

if he didnt just fight lucas then he wouldnt be fighting a guy like herrera.
hes takin a nice layoff after that battle. and now he is returning vs a quality opponent to make sure hes ready to go .. cuz after a big fight like the lucas fight he needs a break

This is ridiculous. Once you get to the top its ok to not fight the best? The Seahawks had a tough schedule so maybe they should play Notre Dame in the Superbowl.

don't make sense to me... why fight a journeyman type at 140 if you're intending to go to 147.

just looks like they want to avoid matthysse rematch if their thinking of staying at 140.

he should fight either karim mayfield, viktor postol or humberto soto. Selcuk Aydin would be a pretty decent fight

At least be consistent. If GGG or someone you disliked were fighting a fighter this level, you'd say it was a joke fight. This is not a great fight.... but you think Khan is a great fight for Mayweather, too, so why do I even bother.

Garcia going back to being protected, lol. You are champ now, it is expected that you fight consistently good opposition.

    Great post

People talk like he's faced a murdurers row of opponents recently...his last five opponents include facing a badly faded Morales twice, a close to shot Judah, Khan was a good win and Matthysse was very good but it's hardly P4P guys.

Herrera should not be an acceptable opponent for a Ring champion to fight, it would be different if he was coming off a good win like Leapai but he isn't.

sad that boxing is now merely network programming and nothing to do with the sport anymore. as a result you get s--t like this.

    misconception.

go back and look at any of the greats throughout history. very few of them fought tough fight after tough fight. what u will see is a tough fight....followed by a few fights with guys we never heard of....then another tough fight....followed by a few more guys we never heard of...etc.
