After years of hype, can we finally agree that Bute was just never that good?

It is easy to bash him now when he is most likely done, but "resumes" don't win the fights, skills do. And claiming that Bute was suddenly never good is ridiculous and usually done by people who are unable to recognize the skills of a boxer once they're displayed. Bute used to be a great boxer back in the day. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore and it looks like his days are numbered. It doesn't necessarily mean that he is done, but it certainly looks like that. Simple as that.

These dumbass Butenerds are sad haha.. all those years I shitted on the lucian bute battleship or whatever they call it explaining why bute sucks and they didnt buy it.

He should never havee been so protected during his paper title reign.. that's what happens when you get comfortable beating up on bums then leap up in class against the likes of froch and pascal..

Fighters take gradual step ups for a reason and bute failed to do that.. I told you foos that he's getting knocked out as soon as he faces a live opponent so there you go.

I have waited some time to see him lose. Now that is lost number two. I just dont think he knew how to fight someone like Pascal . I want to see him figbt some one else. But not a guy who will walk into Bute's counter punches.

    Except they didn't.

Kessler: "I knew Bute has no chin"
Froch: "I knew he was in trouble when he signed to fight me"
    Ward: "Who has he fought?"

Kessler said that Bute offered him **** to fight him in Montreal, do you honestly believe Mikkel would duck Lucian Bute? We are talking about a warrior, who fought Calzaghe in Wales, Mundine in Australia, Haussler in Germany, Ward in Jokeland & The Cobra in London. Calzaghe, Froch & Ward - like 2-3 levels above Bute. Give me one f**king reason why he should've been afraid of Bute?

No Kessler said it wasn't even a million dollar & if it were the case he would've took the offer, he told ESB radio before

    Bute is GGG

**** that can feed in tomato cans and gets ran down against anything better than a tomato can

Froch is a talentless bum who direll schooled easily

If froch can KO you, then you are nothing

Andre Ward on who he would pick to win if he was not involved in the Super Six and Lucian Bute were there in his place:

    11-06-2010

“Wow, that’s a great question. I would have to have Bute and Dirrell as the top two guys on my list. I always favor the type of guy—I’m stealing some words from Carl Froch, you know being in the Super Six with these guys, I’m learning a little something—but I would always favor a guy who can do more than one thing. Taking nothing away from the other guys, I think that if Bute was in the tournament and Dirrell being in the tournament, I think they have more tools in the toolbox so to speak. I would probably lean towards those guys, but that being said, the other four combatants—they demand respect. As we’ve seen with the seesaw up and downs in terms of who’s winning, nothing is guaranteed. That’s what makes the Super Six the Super Six and that’s what’s so exciting, but those two guys would be on top of my list to win the whole thing.”

On whether he believes the Super Six Champion needs to defeat Lucian Bute before he can be considered the best super middleweight in the world:

“I think it would be the other way around. I think Bute would have to face off with the Super Six Champion to prove that he’s the best super middleweight. You know you come out of a tournament like this on top, that demands a lot of respect and that carries a lot of weight. Taking nothing away from Bute, he’s not fighting the competition that’s in the Super Six so I think it would be the other way around. I think the Super Six champion if he wanted to go to another weight class, I think it would not be good for the fans and the sport necessarily or the 168 pound weight class, because everyone would want to see the Super Six Champion and Bute fight but in terms of legacy, I think Bute would need to be in a hurry to want a future fight with the Super Six Champion.”

It's so funny but i never realized how big the racial factor played in the Bute hype train.
I went to the Pascal Bute fight and the bar was absolutely packed with white people saying some of the most ignorant things i've heard in a long time and cheered like crazy every time Bute threw a punch.

I really don't understand by white people placed so much hope in this guy, lots of good white fighters out there.

Didn't Pascal basically grow up in Canada also? Whereas Bute only lived there for a few short years.

The same goes for Adrian Diaconu who basically came over, and was a crowd favorite against Pascal (They even boo'd Pascal in their bouts).

The canadian fightfans do strike me as racist.

he was a fringe elite super middleweight. I say fringe because he beat everyone but the elite fighters at the weight, and when he did step up against the elite, he was decisively cut down to size.

bull****. don't discount the man and his accomplishments. there is no shame in losing. they all do eventually...especially if they take on real challenges.

bute competed at an elite level since the amateurs. getting ko'd by ggg at the world games, i believe. he's a legit talent.

you can't win them all....but he has beaten some very quality fighters over the years.

had his management given a **** about him...they would have allowed him some confidence building fights to recover from the loss to froch. instead they throw him right back to the wolves. even though he lost to pascal...it wasn't a shameful loss imo. he finished well...and hopefully that gives him some of his confidence back. he still has a lot of fight left in him.

Discounting his accomplishments? No really good W and one thing is too lose when you stepping up another thing is to completely destroyed, which was the case of Bute. Lucian was just never that good, simple as that. Deal with it :deal
