A better deal means he'll have to fight stiffer competition. Let's see what happens..

    HBO's airing Chavez-Vera II . . . So I'm not sure about their choices.

So, which fights will you be watching instead on Feb. 1st?

You would think it would flop, but Chavez-Vera I was the 2nd highest rating in boxing in 2013; slightly ahead of GGG-Stevens in 3rd place. I guess they expect it to do well in light of the first fight's ratings.

Most of those "fans" don't follow boxing above the 152lb division.:D

Does HBO already have a November/December date set for Golovkin after his April appearance? A 6-7 month layoff would be long for him. Curious if he would take another fight in the interim.

November/December should work well for a Martinez fight. Assuming Sergio does not incur a bunch of injuries in the Cotto fight or Godforbid actually lose.

Where did you get Nov/Dec? After April I wouldn't be surprised if we got Golovkin-Chavez at 168 in late summer early fall.

His camp is planning on April 26th, then a fight in the July-August range, and a final fight in the November-December range. All three between April and December should be on HBO. They hope for Sergio in Nov/Dec if all factors align.

Hopefully Sergio won't be injured in with Cotto. Who knows what happens if Cotto wins. I can't see Cotto defending a MW belt for long, if at all. If Cotto wins and vacates the belt, who knows what that will do, either. If the stars don't align to get Sergio in the ring, it sounds like they will look to move divisions.

I want to see Golovkin's fight no matter who it's against but what can you expect with this one I guess.

If a fight with Sergio is possible at the end of the year, it's not smart to jump up and then back down so I'd hold off on that idea.

Thanks once again for the info.

That would sure be rough for Golovkin if Martinez somehow loses to Cotto. Even when Martinez wins, rest assured he will have a broken hand, torn meniscus or even a case of hyperplasic anemia, would not surprise me.

Hopefully Golovkin can maintain that schedule(3 HBO dates) by the end of the year. He has been fortunate to avoid the injury bug and even shows up for fights with the flu.

At least Golovkin is active for a heavily exposed fighter.

I don't know why HBO declined Geale as an opponent, but I hope they get somebody better than Kirkland...

Golovkin vs. Sergio at years' end would be amazing.

If I were a betting man, I'd say smart money would be on a Froch v Chavez Jr fight before GGG v Chavez Jr.
