    Let's hope so Marty.
You have to laugh at all the plugs who were ranting and spouting that the boxnation deal was the end of the world! that Carl was virtually sold into slavery, his career ruined blah blah....:good

I dont know Marty. But I'm sure he and Barry are no mugs and that they will be playing the long game to Carls best advantage.

Now if only we could see a bit more of him!

Julio Cesar De La Cruz was shot in a roadside robbery earlier in the month. Having had surgery to remove a bullet form his hip, La Cruz is now making a recovery. While this is terrible news as such a good boxer has been serously hurt it could be great news for Joe Ward as La Cruz was a terrible style match up for him and in my view the only light heavyweight in the world that has the beatings of him.

Anyone heading to the National Youth finals next weekend?

52kg final looks to be a belter. Willie Donoghue (World Junior gold) v Frankie Cleary (Euro Junior silver).

European gold Gary Cully also fighting in the 56kg final and World gold Ciara Ginty in the girls' 60kg. Brendan Irvine might be the one to watch in 49kg, Sean Conroy (Euro bronze 81kg) there too. Interesting to see who'll really be on the plane to Rio :deal

So what is the deal with this Gary Hyde show at National Stadium midway through February? :huh

It has both HNN and Fitzey slotted to meet TBA in separate middleweight tilts.

I don't get it. Why not just have them rematch? What else is the point of HNN brought in to Fitzey's hometown? Granted it was clear for HNN when they met last month in Spain, but it was a fun donnybrook with spells of fine two-way body punching in the pocket, and Fitzey made HNN put in an honest night's work. If they're bothering to fly HNN in why have them muck about with two other randoms instead of each other?

Even if they're angling towards a long-awaited pro showdown between Olympic rivals HNN and Lee (which has been discussed many times over the years and was as of very recently said to be close to on for Paddy's Day) - still, why not set it up with HNN vs. Fitzey II so the Irish audiences can familiarize themselves more with him firsthand against someone they already know well to properly build it up? :think

The rematch would probably be just as one-sided, but the point is valid. I suspect they will be put together unless Fitzgerald is matched in a Dublin derby against Brendan Fitzpatrick.

It's better to put on than both v a couple of randoms, you're right there. I don't see Lee fighting HNN without a title on the line.

I think this is all about keeping Gary hydes boxers busy and then theres the added advantage of some of our own boxers will get a fight because of this promotion.

    I saw that Ryan, thanks.
When I said I wanted to see more of him, I meant see more of him fighting! Not just see him being interviewed.
I have a real concern that inactivity will damage him. I can't understand why today's top pros ( not just Cf, but across the board) only box a couple of times a year. I really hope Carl can fight at least 3-4 time per year minimum.
