I didn't say he needs to prove himself I said "prove himself further" Kessler is without a doubt a better boxer than froch so may prove a tougher test! Just because I'm a froch fan doesn't mean I'm defending that fight! And if he could knock Kessler out then he could boast how he knocked out somebody froch couldn't! As David haye does daily :p

Groves chin is what it is. But if he improves his stamina and strength, and learns to relax more in the ring, he will make it tough fight for anyone.

It makes sense for both to go for the rewards, although the loser risks being set back quite a bit. (in the case of Kessler, the setback would be permanent).

I think Kessler can take the risk? If he loses retire! If he wins his names back in the mix and won't get a bad pay day regardless! And groves is confident I think he takes the fight and tries to outdo froch

Kessler's done. The only thing missing is the retirement announcement.

Kessler to me is shot well maybe not shot but nothing like the man was at his best, Groves may well hurt him and stop him frankly i think Kessler should retire he had a great career but at this stage he has had a lot of wars and isn't going to do anything much to add to his career or legacy. Doubt he needs the money either seen as he was such a superstar in Denmark and made millions fighting Calzaghe and Froch and of course the Ward fight as well as all the fights in Denmark in front of sold out arenas the man probably has 10m to his name. In his absolute Prime he beats Groves IMO in a tough hard fight but he wins by late stoppage or points, oh and in his prime he beats Froch he was simply better he wasn't even at his peak when he beat Carl Kessler is a very very good fighter indeed.

No contest Groves finishes this early

A Kessler of 4/5 years ago makes this really intresting, but now, little point in the match up.

When groves beats him, all you will here is "well Kessler is past it"

    No win situation for groves

Does anyone know what actually happened in the Groves Kessler sparring?

Groves team said Groves gave Kessler fits

Kesslers team in the build up to Froch vs Kessler said that Kessler was handling Groves with ease

Froch said that he spoke to Kessler about sparring with Groves, and Kessler did indeed say Groves would be 'no trouble' based on their sparring

groves still gets rep points for beating kessler
groves needs to get his ass fighting in the US - it'll guarantee him a ward fight if he wants it
