Groves earned £500,000 for the first fight

Froch/Hearn offered Groves 'around double' for the rematch more like £750,000 with terms in the contract.

George Groves won his appeal and the IBF ordered the rematch.

If George Groves is ranked in the top 3 he will get 25%, but if he is below no.3 in rankings he stands to pick up at least 15% which would still make him around £1.5 million with no terms in the contract.

Basically George has doubled his money and he doesn't have to worry about terms and he's got a guaranteed title shot. George Groves is absolutely laughing tonight

This made my day! Can be no excuses now from froch. Groves actually deserves more than 25 %. talk of 85-15 splits ridiculous or hearns amazing seven figure offer with clauses also ridiculous, considering what the fight will make. If it's such an amazing offer why describe it as seven figure offer, why not tell us what that seven figure actually was and the clauses while your at it. Froch scared of groves and has been from when the first fight was signed. Talk of fighting Chavez junior, haha, the only people interested in it is froch and his good man hearn. Much more money in groves fight regardless of what they're saying, much much more interest in groves fight and now belt to be lost if it's avoided. Froch and his bunch of deluded supporters have made every excuse in the book for his running. Time to stop running carl and get it on...

If groves will make 1.5m with a 15% cut, the fight is worth 10m? hearn has said groves was offered 25% and had George excepted the first offer they would of lost money so surely that's 2.5m

    I don't understand these figures:?

The first offer for rematch was most prob a flat fee, £1mil for fight plus options on Groves. By going IBF route he will be entitled to a %. So if heanrs is serious about his 80k wembley venture, with Sky PPV, the 15-25% is much more profitable for GG with Gate income alone going to crazy if it's at wembley. Groves played his cards well.

Hearn ye we should take what he said to be truth! Listen they offered GG double his last fight meaning 1m not 25%. GG even if he gets 15% makes 1.5M and if its 25% 2.5m no way did they offer Groves 25% because that would mean they see the fight was a 4M pound fight and it isn't.

The fight is worth a lot more than Hearn says it is because Groves is working with different promoters to bid for it so it could be worth less or more? So forget the figures just now.
The fact is Hearn gave Groves a **** offer with TERMS, George has said it himself.
But now with the IBF ordering the rematch George will get his 15% of the purse whatever that may be? He doesn't have to worry about terms and being tied down to contracts, plus he has a guaranteed title shot. Happy Days :hi:

You asked for the rematch you have got it. What a moaning twat you are. Groves should take any % win the fight then do the same when he is champ- or is there a doubt he will win :yep

the purse in the orginal hearn offer was 6 million Groves was offered 1 million with Froch getting 5 million.

unless the purse gets increased and the IBF split is indeed 85 15 in Frochs favour then Groves is now getting 900,000. i think this is right could be wrong maths was never my strong suit.

Forget all the money talk clearly this fight is there to be made, which makes a mockery of all the wankers calling froch a coward

£900k with no rematch is better than £1m no rematch

Some people are not getting it. If Hearn has said 6 million as the purse then more than likely when this is open to purse bids this will go up.. There will be a negotiation period where the IBF will give Groves and Froch a chance to come to a purse agreement. If this is not done it goes to purse bids. I would think that this will generate a lot of interest as Sky PPV will want this regardless of who the promoter is.. This fight makes over 10 million easy. This is going to be fun seeing where it goes.

Hearns point of Groves being ranked outside the top 4 is irrelevant it's a manadatory rematch purses will be at 75-25%. I think it's a bit of white lies by Mr Hearn. The upside it rematch or vacate. If he vacates we probably get to see a better fight in a Groves v Degale 2 not as much money but a far better fight
