Interesting.I wonder if his chin problem was due to fighting heavier men?

Mills was 10lbs heavier than the 32 years old Marshall who was reckoned to be on the slide .

They surely were, but Ted Broadribb, Millls's manager and father in law put Freddie in matches that would have been more at home in the Roman Colisseum.

I'm not getting into another debate with an agenda driven poster, I have enough of that with Mendoza.

NO agenda in that or ANY of my posts McVey, just stating the fact about Mills' size and weight.

He WAS a L-HW cum HW and he was introduced as such in the RING Magazine as early as 1940.

he did fight a couple of boys too big for him I agree whole heartedly and I forgot to add Jack London to the two I mentioned.

I am a Mills fan & supporter. He is a lot better than some people credit him with, this is seen not only in those fights with the Big boys but also in his two battles with Lesnevich, both great fights and Mills beat him good and well in the return.

and Lesnevich is a certain great!

Sugar Ray Seales. US Olympic gold Winner at Munich 1972.
He never got the attention or back-up he deserved. Never got a shot at the title.
Lost 90% of his sight on both eyes - but still managed to win fights.
I saw him lose to Auyb Kalule over 10 rounds in 1979 and it was obvious he had problems measuring the distance of his punches.

What did he do that would put him in the top ten? In the company of
    Moore
    Charles
    Burley
    Williams
    Marshall
    Booker
    Langford
    Burns
    O Brien
    Delaney
    McAvoy
    Gibbons
    etc
    3 signature wins
    Minter,Tonna,Seales
Decent, but not top ten imo

Maybe not I've used him as an example,I think he has a better resume than Seales or Harris.

Probably, anyway i think the thread has got to the point people are just throwing other good contenders yet to get a vote.
