Tyson Fury: What will beating Gonzalo Omar Basile prove?

The guy has lost eight time, 7 of those times he lost by Ko. The last guy who scored that big Ko VS Basile had a record of 5-7-1 so it obviously doesn't take no world beater to defeat Mr Basile.

I don't know really I mean if Tyson Fury is just thinking about putting on a show and staying active then couldn't he just like make an event where he says a speech and sings and then spars a few rounds with a few local amateurs, hits a heavybag or shadow boxes or something?

Tyson Fury may not be the world champion at the moment but this is still a mismatch of gigantic proportions and the only one with something to prove in that ring is going to be Basile.

I'm disappointed with these news and if anyone were to claim that Fury couldn't find a better opponent in such a small time frame then that's just a lie really, Fury has been saying this and that and complaining and then he goes and signs up for this fight, why exactly should boxing fans take this guy seriously?

I've been a supporter of Basile for a number of years, make no mistake he is coming to England to pull off a huge upset and end the Fury hype machine.

Don't focus on Basile's early round defeats, he never had any amateur fights so his defensive skills were never developed which has lead to him being knocked out early a few times.

Basile has finally got a proper trainer and has improved greatly over the last 18 months and will be coming into the Fury fight in the best shape and form of his life.

I still take Fury to win but Basile will give him one hell of a fight.

 

It isn't meant to prove anything, dunno why you have this feeling.

It's just that, due to David Haye's twice in a row *****ing out of a fight and rescheduling, he has lost almost a year in inactivity.
He has put on weight, he has to return to a better shape and to regain ring confidence.

It's just a tune up fight, nothing more.

Exactly I don't get the point of giving him **** when he had Haye cancel on him twice; he needed to start fighting again. I'm guessing he also probably doesn't want to deal with the bull**** of setting up another big fight right now after dealing with the Haye fiasco.

 

And frankly, he would be well advised to take a tune up fight!

the last time tyson fought a south american hw.... Nascimento is more or less on par with Omar Basile in terms of ability....

 

Nascimento sparked Basille out in about a round if I recall correctly. So Fury will in effect be fighting the leftovers of someone he has already beaten. Even for a tune-up fight, this is ****ing ****.

 

just checked boxrec and it appears you are right... pretty bad fight even by tune up standards....

 

Its simply a tune up and by the looks of Fury recently he needs one. Nothing at all wrong with getting some easy rounds in to get back in shape while gaining some publicity so he can build up to a bigger fight later.

 

im as big a fury fan as any, but this is not a good tune up fight... tyson will be lucky to get a round or two from this....Omar Basile is atrocious.

 

Haye cost team Fury a lot of money. Its probably all they could afford.

He will be back again in April.

As i explained Basile has improved over the last 18 months and is coming into the Fury fight in his best form and on a unbeaten run.

Basile has won 61 out of 70 fights and see's the Fury fight as his last chance at making a name for himself.
