Bingo. The event would be huge, and they could milk the charity aspect to full effect by bumping up the PPV price- after all, it's not the fighters being greedy- it's for charity! The cherry on top is that those co-promoter earnings each man gets would be tax-free because of the writeoff from donating their fighter's purses. As would their income from any other 2014 fight/endorsement/etc.

If...and it's a big IF...this fight goes through as a charity fight, it'd be one of the biggest marketing coups in sports history. Convince everyone you're fighting for free, give charity a boost (great in general, and great PR), and pocket millions anyways- just not in the way most people expect.

The problem is, NO ONE will be convinced of this.

And when, not if, but when it comes out that these guys 'hid' money from the fight through their promotional companies that could/should have went to said charity as was promoted and expected, the blowback from few fans dumb enough to fall for this will be a PR nightmare.

This dumb arse ploy is fraught with PR danger.
