I see it being similar to Calzaghe v Kessler. Joe would take the initial sharp and heavy shots before making adjustments and elevating the pressure.

Much as I love Georgie I'd say it's Calzaghe on points. Groves would get covered in leather any time he thought about pulling the trigger.

Joe C would be able to throw tons of shots every round for the full 12. Groves couldn't cope with that.

It would be a close fight. Groves is quick enough to hit Calz and has enough bang to keep him honest. The likely result would be a close UD for Calz, due to his work rate. Have Groves teaming up with Adam Booth, then it would be a very close match up indeed.

I tend to agree esp if he fights like he did Degale, hitting joe as hes coming in he could score a knockdown or two, but joe volume would win on the cards, if he stands middle of the ring like vs froch, Calz just takes it to the inside and shuts him out.

WE know that Calz power won't cause Groves too much problems so he will move in and come in with a few power shots. I can even see Calz being knocked down. But this will probably cause Calz to be more agressive and depending on Groves, it could turn into a bit of shoot out. But agreed, Calz volume punching causes anyone problems.

Yep. Whenever calz got hit with a good shot he need to come back and have the last word resulting into a shoot out like you say

No way would it be that wide. I can see Calz winning by 3-4 rounds max. Groves is the real deal. At the moment he is one of the best SMW out there now and second to Ward right now.

Am a big Groves fan and the odds were so inviting in the Froch-Groves fight I had him down for the KO. The reason for that was Froch's complete lack of movement meaning Groves always had a chance of nailing him; his power was being totally written off and Woodhall's pre-fight analysis was one of the worst I've ever seen from a 'pundit'.

Groves may have some success against Calzaghe early on as Calz tended to figure things out on the night rather than any pre-planned stuff. Calzaghe is as tough as Froch though, but throws umpteen more punches whilst being able to adapt and control distance. Don't think the second half of this fantasy match-up would pan out well for George.

Calzaghe stoppage late on (short chopping punches would hurt Groves IMO). But if it was one of Calzaghe's low key nights it would be a wide UD. Some nights Joe could look really average but he's get the job done and he'd do the same with Groves.

I think everyone is getting a bit carried away with groves at the moment sure he has potential and has power but he couldn't live with calzaghe at the moment maybe in a few years, I think groves still has a lot to improve on regarding stamina and experience as he seems to like getting into a tear up and I don't think he has the chin for it, if he would of kept fighting the way he was against froch he would of won but he got over confident and thought he could trade with froch with the end of the six round being a prime example. I still think froch would beat him in a rematch if it happens even though I would be cheering for groves.
