I never much cared for Calzaghe, for me he had one of the ugliest styles in recent memory, but I do think he was decent; his work rate, speed and stamina were particularly impressive.

I suppose he did look good against an over hyped Lacy and he also did well to scrape past Hopkins, but the only fight that really impressed me was Kessler. Calzaghe really showed his worth in that fight.

Over rated by many, I think, but a decent champ nonetheless.

Was impressive against lacy ,beat him up, as for ko power, his early record to about 20 fights he was banging them all out, as he went up in class the more he used his supreme fitness and work rate to get decisions, although he was not a smooth sweet boxer and some punches looked slap like, he also had a great chin, when he was down v jones jnr , look at his legs when he got up, jelly , prob the best asset Joe calzaghe had was the ability to adapt to any fighter when he was in the fight, qoute from Byron Mitchell after he dropped Joe for the first time ever , ' I ve never been hit so hard so often so fast " , Joe got up and dropped Mitchell straight after the ref finished counting for his decking. For me there are better ATG , but Joe has earned a place up there, and 46 / 0 is no fluke.

I agree with this, I just have a gripe with people drooling over the workrate.

When you throw punches with such little power, technique, and effectiveness, it's easy to throw a ton. Throwing a real power punch drains your body of oxygen and it's extremely taxing to throw a lot of them. Calzaghe didn't throw power punches.

The chin thing irks me a bit too. It's not as if Calzaghe was out fighting a murderous string of punchers when he was knocked down 4 times in his career. His chin was pretty good, and VERY good for a UK fighter. Perhaps that is where some people get mixed up.

I can't argue his accomplishments and his accolades are well deserved was I ever impressed not really but it takes nothing away from the guy I just never took a liking to him I thought he drew with Hopkins though I'm not mad he got the win. I never supported rjj and the fight they hand was utterly pathetic I mean rjj was shot to ****. Again kudos to joe for getting to such a high status in the boxing world even if I'd pass in watching his fight collection.

Joe Calzaghe legacy is tarnished, until he faces Ottke...late better than never :nono

21 WBO Title defenses reign 1998-2007 -----Undefeated Calzaghe
21 IBF Title defenses reign 1998-2004 -------Undefeated Ottke

A 7 year mutual duckjob is unacceptable and can't be ignored, especially that both lived in Northwestern Europe & had enough time to realize this
