Guys, Sergio isn't even a real MW. He is a JMW at best. This is a case of a WW vs a JMW, at MW. With Cotto and Roach, I think they have a real good chance up coming out with the win. Cotto is wanting to make history for Puerto Rick by becoming the first from the island to win 4 titles in 4 weight classes. I won't buy the PPV, but I will be rooting for Cotto to pull off the biggest win of his career.

Martinez had already agreed to all the terms, it was just the name of the fight that was holding it back. Cotto demanded to be called Cotto-Martinez even tho martinez is the champ. sucks.... cotto should have been a real man and respect martinez position as the champ

Bigger draw is traditionally first billed. Defending champ traditionally comes out second.

Honestly the whole thing should have been pretty easy, theres plenty of established precedent. Hopefully the fight gets signed and delivered.. I think its a pretty good fight really.

Cotto is a good 5'8 but I see what your saying I'm notna Cotto supporter but yyy got to respect what he's done in this era, I'll be rooting for Martinez I'm just saying don't sleep on Cotto like he's not a solid fighter I can see the winner eventually getting a Mayweather fight probably next year if they don't fall to GGG first

I thought Cotto initiated the talks for 160? He wanted another division title. It wasn't that long ago when Sergio was at 154 but had to fight, what back then was a much bigger Pavlik. I disagree this being a cherrypick as Sergio had to do it himself without any catchweights.

    Martinez!

    Martinez by a wiiiiiiide margin.

I have no idea why Cotto took this fight, but Im glad Martinez is getting an easy payday out of it. He certainly deserves that.

Meanwhile, Cotto will continue to lose to all the top fighters he faces.

Actually he is setting himself up for 2 paychecks.

Fight Sergio now and lose, then come back to 154 and fight Canelo, who will obviously still want the fight.

I'll give him that. But he always loses when he faces the best. His biggest win is still a faded Mosley. So, unless Martinez is completely faded, we're going to see Cotto running out of the ring in a fit and crying then change trainers.

The intrigue here is how much Martinez really has left in the tank? I was not impressed with his performance against Chavez Jr. This could be winnable for Cotto. Winner has to fight Triple G though.

That's lane if true but if I were Martinez I wouldn't care as Cotto is bringing the money in, filling the stadium for me and coming up in weight so any concessions like that seem slightly trivial.

Cotto is getting knocked the f*ck out. Sergio is going to be motivated for this one. He has felt like he deseeves a "big" fight like this for a long time. Serg is past his best but Cotto is too.

Sergio neve started at 140 mate. He's much bigger than Cotto and there are legit challenges at middleweight he wants nothing to do with. He outgrew 154 whilst Cotto struggled to fill it!
