Cotto has absolutely nothing to lose against Martinez; he's the underdog, Martinez looks to be beatable on paper, and he'll still be guaranteed good money to fight the ginger one even when he loses comprehensively. That's why he took this fight over the Alvarez one.

True, he does. It's also a very winnable fight for Cotto. Martinez is on the decline majorly and getting old at 39 and coming off injuries and a long layoff. He's there for the taking and Cotto can never be taken lightly.

Not really, Cotto in my opinion ate his way out of the 154 devision, I don't think this is by choice. Eating his way out of weight class seem to be a pattern with Cotto.

 

If Martinez is at 50%, he will knock Cotto out. Cotto took the fight with Martinez because he knows that Martinez has had one injury after another. He is counting on an injured and rusty Martinez...........Pac stopped Cotto!!!

 

Eh... This looks to me like a calculated risk by Cotto. Fight a big name guy who has a belt coming off injury and looking past it. It's a glory fight I guess for him, but I see it backfiring badly.
