Why do people keep saying "high risk low reward" when a fight with Pulev within the last year guaranteed a mando position? Even Leapia with a nobody promoter in his words says he's going to make over £1m from his mando shot.
You answered the question yourself. No point going through a tough challenge in order to legitimately earn a mando spot when beating a few bums impressively gets you equally far.
You'll not be getting 25% of no purse without winning the mando position though. That's one thing I'll congratulate leapia over. At least he had the balls to travel literally to the other side of the World for peanuts and beat the top 10 and number 1 ranked contender Boytsov in his own backyard to earn his payday.
