I think Groves is really looking for Froch to vacate. He then has bragging rights without the risk of boxing him again and can earn similar money boxing for the vacant IBF belt.
If that's the case then Groves will hang on. He hasn't got much to lose unless Hearn comes in with a massive last minute offer. Hearn really doesn't want this fight going to purse bids. I can't see Froch fighting on another channel so he'd vacate and fight Chavez.
The same idea has been mentioned by quite a few posters. He can earn the same money and avoid Froch, and he won't lose face in doing it this way. I don't buy all this crap about Groves beating Froch easily in a rematch. Froch played right into his hands last time, and spent half the fight clearing his head after the knockdown, yet Groves shot his load after 6 rounds, and was starting to get tagged. Groves has the ability to outbox Froch, and has enough power to get Frochs attention, but his stamina and discipline are very questionable. If Groves was confident of winning the rematch, he should have taken the original offer, whether it was a lowball or not. As for the conspiracy theory about Hearn trying to tie Groves up, there is nothing concrete, only speculation.
i can understang gg wanting more, but he has to accept that by choosing to force the rematch, the same rules dictate he forfeit the right to a bigger cut, deserved or otherwise. those of you still trying to twist this into froch ducking are laughable.
