It was competitive with Canelo but you can't really hang your hat on anything in sparring--even GGG shaming Chavez. It's sparring; they work on certain things in sparring, try new stuff, test defenses, stamina, etc. It's not a real fight.

As far as head hunting goes, there might be something to that, but he punished Stevens body a lot once he opened it up and Adama protected his body very well with his long arms.
