toally his last fights and im not missing one of them. im 27, saw him when i was 12 so hes been the boxer that i've followed my whole life. I followed others too but stuck with him after all the talent i seen in him. so for a fighter of my Era in his last days, i just want to see him in the ring!

Now if he fought somebody like Rios i would still watch but be upset because thats a lame fight. fighting Khan isnt the best but has some good boxing skills and can create a matchup problem for at least a little while. Maidana has won 3 in a row and is a top 5 WW, how can anybody hate on that pick??

If Khan had a chin or wasn't sloppy for all his speed, he'd match up way better than Maidana. However, he has neither of those and he doesn't possess much punching power to boot. Maidana at least has the benefit of a good chin, a decent punch, and the will to at least force Floyd to work to keep Maidana off.

The fight choices are a joke is because neither fighter brings much to the table to challenge Floyd at all, and neither fighter deserves the fight on record compared to a fairly large list of fighters(especially Khan on both counts). Maidana is coming off the biggest win of his career, but Alexander(who is far from Floyd), was able to very easily outbox Maidana, and recently too. Maidana has been able to rack up these wins since against guys that he matches up well with stylistically(non-movers) and even then he has been in wars. Khan doesn't have any big wins to his credit of late, and he in fact looked absolutely terrible in his last fight against Julio Diaz.

What it boils down to is that Floyd should be fighting Pacquiao, Martinez, Lara, GGG, etc. People wouldn't criticize so much if he even made one of these fights. But he's Floyd, so it's not going to happen.

As of late Pac and Khan have the same record 2-2, and I'm not arguing Pac beating Bradley, I'm talking about the JMM III robbery. As I look at it, Pac is no more deserving than Khan. Lara, Bradley, Martinez, GGG, Maidana are certainly more deserving. But they don't have the loudmouths cheering for them, they just do their thing in the ring.

I sure hope we don't let popularity alone dictate fights. Otherwise we'd get nothing but Chavez Jr and Canelo fights in the future.

I'll be 20 in a month and I've followed him throughout my life too, and people dont hate Maidana. Because anyone else could fight Maidana (including Pac) and people would label it legit. But people have such a deeply rooted hatred and appetite for Floyd to lose that anything that isnt stacked out of his favor is unacceptable. They hate it because they know he'll win. They know that and theres nothing you can do to a man who never loses besides criticizing his opposition. I guess in some weird way, that is their victory, and satisfies their appetite to see him fall. In reality thats all they can do, focus on hypotheticals. Because the truth is a simple one, and an ugly one if you hate him. The truth is, he wont lose. Thats the constant. Everything else is debatable and open for criticism, besides that. He doesnt lose. Its just the way it is.

Floyd is a Welterweight fights at JMW if it is a big money fight. The guy comes in way under the 154 limit for god sake. at 37 his body has reached its limits and he will not get bigger.

i always said i wanted to see him fight serg but the guy would be giving up way to much weight.

everybody under the sun wants to fight floyd but what 147 pounder who can fight on showtime and is not tied up should he fight.

You're right on the double standard. Everyone would love a Pac vs Maidana fight because while Pac would likely win, it would be guaranteed fireworks for as long as it went because the style matches up that way. Pac isn't going to confuse Maidana with his crazy defense, even in a showing like the Rios fight he will be throwing a lot and there will be plenty of openings for Maidana to hit back. Whereas because Floyd is a mover with ridiculous defense, everyone expects a non-competitive fight that Floyd wins by easy UD.

But your other reasoning in my view is wrong. Floyd doesn't lose, in my view, because he carefully picks his matchups to avoid facing styles and characteristics that might put him in serious danger of defeat. This doesn't mean he has no chance of losing against who he does face, he is still generally facing decent guys by most standards but he minimizes the risk factor. As a for example, if he fought the current faded version of Pacquiao, I would say Pacquiao probably has about a 15% chance of winning in my estimate. So not very good. But it would still be a lot higher odds of victory than any opponent Floyd has faced in eons for me because Pacquiao has the style and characteristics that might give Floyd problems. He's fast of hand and foot, punches from odd angles, good power, high workrate, good chin. He might be able to consistently crack Floyd's defense. Or Floyd might show his greatness against him and completely school him. We'll never know though, because Floyd will not take the chance against even this form of Pacquiao, just as he hasn't taken the chance against other opponents that might present serious issues. Boxing legacy isn't about fantasy matchups. Floyd hasn't proven that he can beat these guys, because he hasn't made the matches.

Not all fighters are built the same .You can't tell me that there isn't better options than Khan and Maidana.

for May 3rd i would say no theres isnt. and u cant just say any fighter because it doesnt work like that. I think Thurman would be his best option but hes not there yet and not that popular so he doesnt get the fight.

u name some better options then :huh:huh

Truley Maidana is the best option for May 3rd and u know it
