When a potential Mayweather PPV has to fit this criteria -

    Name to sell
    Stylistically favorable/beneath his level

And you're running out of even semi-worthy contenders because you have a new crop of young guns emerging with actual talent, then that's when you get proposed fights vs. C level fighters like Khan and B- level fighters like Maidana.

Yes, Maidana defeated Broner, but Broner was full of holes and obvious hype to anyone with a set of eyes that knows anything about the sport of boxing. Other than that he recently was shut out by Alexander, recently had a war with Josesito Lopez. So he's shut out by a secondary level non-elite titlist and warring with a trial horse. I of course respect the guy, he's a warrior and has overachieved, but he doesn't belong in the ring with the best.

    Khan isn't worth talking about.

    Ortiz wasn't either, nor Guerrero.

Canelo was fine, but let's weight drain him and he's a favorable style and inexperienced. Which the fight itself looked quite fishy with Canelo not even making an effort despite a size advantage.

    ....

Why does it have to fit a criteria?

You won't hear anything about a Lara fight, which would bring massive credit. A Thurman fight soon as he's rising, you won't hear anything about big punching LMWs, you won't hear anything about anyone that poses a potential threat and the guy even admitted that he's protecting his undefeated record.

So my entire thing with that is that it's a business tour finalizing his career that's erroneously being rated as "the best in the world" when so much more is going on and the moronic fans think he's of capability to defeat all of these guys with ease when he struggles with a shot Miguel Cotto and has to select the easiest prey.

If you can beat everyone from 147-154 with ease, then you'd be fighting them all for the credit and the money. You wouldn't be messing with Amir Khan or Marcos Maidana.

You even see clowns on here saying he can beat 3G at 160. Again, remember that the technical pressure and jab of Cotto was giving him trouble, the same Cotto who could do little against the very ordinary LMW Austin Trout.

Just absurd. Who else see's the truth?

So the fans ask "who is there to fight"?

    From 140 to 154 -

    Lara
    Pac
    Matthysse
    Garcia
    Bradley
    Provodnikov
    Thurman
    Porter
    Kirkland

Yeah, he beats most of that and some are on HBO(which the whole cold war between the networks was initiated by his own parade with Haymon). That's just off the top of my head.

You get the idea. Khan isn't in any kind of discussion for contender at Welterweight.

That's what I'm saying. Am I just being a hater? That's what he's said, that's what he's done. I used to be a big supporter of the guy, but after his first "retirement" when Welter was a HOT division, I just couldn't support him anymore. It's become an absolute ****-show.

    And it's bad for boxing.

The influence of this whole charade has effected fans, effected the climate of the sport(used to be we'd always get the big fights, now it's a surprise/shock/joyous thing).

Instead of Golovkin vs. Martinez for the MW lineal, something of significance, you get a shot Cotto vs. Martinez PPV freak show that's akin to the type we've been seeing from Mr. Mayweather as of late.

    Sick of it.

Sick of fans that support it and are more fascinated with what a fighter is making than what they're accomplishing in the ring. :deal
