Flody's opponents exist in a bubble of greatness. What happened to them before or after is irrelevant, for one night only they were at their absolutle peak, better than ever.


Take a look at Cotto, he was supposedly shot by Marg..than took anothre bad beating against Pac while "drained by a 1 lb or so..every lb counts." Surely a shot fighter taking another horrid beating would be the end.... but no! when Floyd announces him as an opponent, Cotto magically became un-shot. For just one night he was the best he's ever been, or at least better than he was in the Pac fight. It's crazy...

 

Probably around top thirty.

Top fighters or active ATG's like Pac and Floyd will ALWAYS get the best of whoever they are fighting....its true in any sport actualy.

So it's not uncommon for a fighter to look better than normal against these two....but it speaks to their greatness as no one really has made it a close fight with them....with very few exceptions.

He's also unwilling to fight Prov, Khan etc, and only has 1 good win above LW, over a guy that started at flyweight. So no wonder he doesn't wanna rematch Floyd though I'd give him a very good chance at 140 right now, and below that he surely KTFOs him

Right now Floyd just beaks 50. There's a lot of great fighters that had the resume to go with the skills, making them truly great. Floyd has the skills and the 0 but he doesn't have the names.

 

A very difficult fighter to rate. Depending on how he ends his career could make a difference of 10 to 20 spots.

The Canelo fight was pretty impressive, but after all the hype you're left with a kid who still has lots to prove and who (despite his fight numbers) is pretty inexperienced on the big stage. With a close with over Trout, and many believing Lara would beat him, his number 1 status may have been more circumstantial than the outright truth.

In short, it wasn't really a defining fight.

Pointing the PED finger at Pacquiao may prove the biggest mistake of Floyd's career; he seems more content to poke fun than get serious and make it happen. And because our expectations for this one are dying a slow death we are looking at light-middleweight and beyond for Floyd to do something which will prove a lasting tribute to his, often overwhelming, skill set.

With his performance against Julio Cesar Chavez, and the fact he gave a prime Oscar a very close fight, I've got Pernell Whitaker a few notches above him.
