Yes but Floyd has fought nothing but top contenders and champions.

    Vitali has done significantly less.

You're only as good as the cumulative quality of the fighters you have faced.

I have him somewhere between 30 and 40.

But history isn't going to be kind to Floyd. When he retires and all the hype from his casual ****** bieber/50cent type of fans are gone, he's going to be remembered for what he didn't do. Everytime his name come up, names of fighters he didn't face will come up.

Well I agree Gatti shouldn't be in the HOF based on accomplishments...

He was a 1st ballot HOF'er and will forever be one. So, it would be awfully biased of me to not mention him.

The poll shows most rank Floyd in the top 50, I personally think he's in the range of 30-50, so I'm a bit more generous. Those who rank him in the top 20 simply don't know the history of the sport. There's simply no justification of this ranking based on any measurement you wish to use.

Highly rated. In between 20-40, when it's all said and done... More to 20 if he stays the course he is on now

I agree but many are making too big of a deal of how he's done, rather than who's he fought. Not just who, but also where were they in their careers at the time.

Well that's what I meant give me some lightweights that were better than him ? I think that was his best weight ..He's def top 10 5 might be too generous in that weight class Do you agree or no ? Anything all time I don't see how he can be higher than the 30 or 40 range .

    That's not true.

I used to have nothing but pre-1980's fighters in my top 50.

I realized that was equally bad to listing nothing but post-1980's fighters in my top 50.

It is very difficult to gauge greatness while it is happening in any sport, let alone boxing with it's history and the endless amount of debatable issues that ensue in a discussion. Some overrate, some underrate... I have always said in a couple decades you will not look crazy for citing him as a top 10 fighter ever and those who claimed he was closer to 50 on these forums and others will look beyond mentally challenged by boxing fans years from now who have yet to even be born yet. That is just my opinion.

There are plenty of obnoxious idiots on here who call professional boxers "cowards", yeah. (And honestly, the "chin" brigade isn't far behind them...)

But I think fans are allowed to expect the best fighters to face one another.

Baseball, football, hockey, and basketball fans would be disgusted if top teams didn't play against each other. And they'd have every right to be -- not because they have the ability to be professional athletes themselves, but because they're paying to watch a competitive sport.

    What's the point otherwise?

That's what makes it even more impressive most guys when they have long lay-offs get beat PBF hasn't really missed a step. His resume is very good not great but you can't say it isn't very good. I think top 25 right now is very reasonable. Guys like Sal Sanchez and JCC are ranked in the top 30 and have done far less and are less talented.

I think you are messing up the divisions.

At Lightweight (135 pounds); not top 10.

At Super Featherweight (130 pounds); best ever, no lower than 3rd on a haters best day.

He fought only 5 times once he reached "world level" at Lightweight.

He won the lineal title at Super Feather and defended it 8 times.

JCC had over 100 fights ..That retirement denied boxing fans and Floyd a chance of some memorable fights ..But like I said 30-40 range is reasonable .

His resume lacks that one defining fight ,that's why I can't rank rank up there above 30.

Funny how Maidana is the only Haymon fighter who is "ready" to fight Floyd.
